Compressing Files• You can compress files to make them smaller or to roll

several files into a single file that's easier to manage and send in an e-mail message. These days, hard drive space isn't difficult to come by, and most people don't compress files to save disk space. However, many people compress files so that they can send files more quickly over the Internet.

• Why is it important to be able to do this? Save more space.

Muddled Emails

• Santa is new to using his email.

• He is going to be very busy over Christmas and would like your advice about setting up auto messages.

• Write an explanation of what an auto message will do. If you send a message to someone, that person may have a setting that sends a message straight back to the sender

• Include reasons they are important to have. because if you are not using email a message will still be sent back to them

• Be cautious about knowing who your talking to. People could be hackers or stalkers or people a lot older and more dangerous

Email Netiquette

• Santa is new to using his email.

• Explain what email netiquette is.

• Give him a list of tips and advice and describe their importance.

• Use the internet in an acceptable manor. No games or inappropriate web searching.

• Don’t write racist comments. To spare arguments and upsetting people, also they can forward the offensive language to others.

• Don’t write in all capital letters. Because people will think you are shouting.

• Write who it is to and who it is from. So there is no confusion.

• Don’t send embarrassing pictures of yourself. People could send it around.

Full Email • Santa is new to using his email.

• He is concerned about the number of emails he has received and he is running out of space.

• Explain what archiving is and how to do it.

• Describe what to do with Spam emails. Spam email is random emails such as ads which should be deleted.

• Describe what to do with unnecessary emails. Unnesseresary emails are messages from friends maybe sent some time ago which should also be deleted.

• Describe how you can archive message’s. archive messages means that you can delete any message someone might send you and if you need to store them (because they may be important), you can store it to your computer memory and delete it from the email storage to give it more space.

• It is important to do these things because it can spare you a lot of frustration while using email and it will be useful because if you don’t delete these the messages in your inbox will just keep building up more and more.
