ØReaching cost free eye care to the indigent reached new milestones
with massive eye screening camps for school children in rural Tamil
Nadu followed by dispensing of spectacles and treatment at the base
hospital and performing of a large number of vision reviving cataract
surgeries totally cost free, right at the doorsteps of patients living in
the remote tribal regions of Jharkhand, with the help of the 'Mobile Eye
Surgical Unit' (MESU)
ØOur belief and commitment to uncompromising quality in all we do was recognized with the 'Best Hospital in
Ophthalmology- 2016-17 award' by CIMS Medica the highly prestigious global provider of drug information,
education content to the healthcare industry. A 'Quality Certificate' by 'Sightlife' an arm of the 'International
Association for the prevention of blindness' (IAPB) the highest recognition for an Eye Bank bestowed on the CU
Shah Eye bank at our main campus, was yet another feather in the cap for the institution's constant vigil and
commitment to quality
ØIt was a moment of glory for an institution governed by the spirit of
compassion and service to mankind when 'Vista India' a publishing
company conferred the 'Mayan Award' for service to mankind to Dr
PS.Rajesh and Dr.Gajendra Kumar Varma in recognition of their service
to poor patients by travelling for long periods to remote regions of the
country in the Mobile Eye Surgical Unit and performing a large number of
surgeries on the doorsteps of patients. High recognition of this spirit of
service also came as a huge grant from the Allis - Gleanor Corporation
the Duluth, Georgia based world leader in farm equipment, the crowning
glory being a citation by Mr. Martin H. Richenhagen, Chairman,
President and CEO which declared ' “We commend your commitment to
improve the lives of those most in need'.

ØYet another significant milestone in reaching out quality eye care to a large and unrepresented region came with
the successful inauguration of the 'Kamalnayan Bajaj Sankara Nethralaya' a 67,000 sq ft, 8 storied, State of the
Art, clinical care, research and academic institution at Rajarhat, Kolkata. The highlight of the new facility is that
an entire floor is dedicated towards providing cost free eye care.
