This quote by Coco
Chanel sums up my
thoughts on aging,
“Nature gives you
the face you have
at 20; it’s up to you
to merit the face you
have at 50.” With age
comes experience and
experience brings wisdom. I believe that
no matter what age you are, a positive
attitude and confidence that comes with
wisdom allows you to live your dream at every age. Then,
you will age gracefully.
~ Hina Sanghvi, Associate Vice President and Financial Advisor,
Morgan Stanley
To keep smiling and remember that there is always something
to be grateful for every day.
~ Jennifer A. O’Dell, CLTC, Financial Advisor, The O’Dell Group at
Morgan Stanley
Each and every person is unique. When we realize this beautiful
reality, we develop a deep appreciation for who we are, why we are
here, and what our future can be. This fact alone should inspire us
to take care of our bodies and minds throughout every stage of life.
~ Jill Ciccarelli Rapps, Partner and Certified Financial Planner,
Ciccarelli Advisory Services, Inc.
Denial and a great sense of humor! Don't focus on the things that
aren't working quite as well as they used to, instead try to find the
humor in them. Surround yourself with wonderful friends that are
positive and make you laugh. Nothing lights up a face or a room
like a beautiful smile.
~ Robin Currier, Well Read, Promenade
Go out in a boat or
kayak before the
sun comes up and
watch the birds fly
in from their roosts,
and the sky fill up
with beautiful colors
that reflect on the
water while you are
the only vessel out on the
water—it is an inspiring way
to start your day!
~ Connie Sims, Owner, Wildflower Boutique

As a mom of a special needs child, I’ve learned to take life
one day at a time and to be grateful for the little things.
The daily challenges can seem overwhelming at times,
but I'm inspired each day by my son's happiness in spite
of all the challenges he faces. Our family tries to
live each day to the fullest and not take anything
for granted.
~ Kim Price, Realtor, Premiere Plus
When forced with two serious illnesses, I find modern
Western medicines are warriors and attack the disease and
deal with many side effects. I also turned to ancient practices
to heal my body and soul—with massage therapy, essential oil
therapy and reflexology. These practices, along with healthier diet
and exercise, are helping me to sustain my health because I am
aging and I want to grow old.
~ Dee Caffey, Square One Hair Salon
Working harder
didn't get me
any further
in business
than working
smarter might
have. Giving up
all of your life
for a position
isn't worth it.
~ Vicki Tracy, Consulting,
COO Gulf Coast International Properties
You cannot be perfect. You will never
be happy with yourself unless you accept you will make
mistakes; let go of perfection. I often relate perfection to
the mathematical model of the asymptote—perfection is
approached asymptotically (mathematically speaking that
means you will never achieve it).
~ Kristen Flaharty, Owner, Trilogy Laboratories.
I'll never forget my anger the first time I was unable to save
a patient. My preceptor pulled me aside and told me, "There
will be times you do everything right and things go wrong,
and there will be times you do everything wrong and things
will turn out right."
~ Dr. Jacqueline Romero, DO, PA
The hardest lesson I have learned in life is we learn the
most through our failures, not necessarily our successes.
I grew up always wanting to be perfect at everything and
I never wanted to fail or disappoint anyone. When I decided
to be a business owner and creator, I learned that failure is a
part of trying. The more I try...The more I put myself out
there...The more I may experience failure but, in all reality,
it is not failure. It is lessons I needed to learn to better
prepare for my future successes.

I would begin re-branding
America. The perception our
citizens have of our country, what
it stands for, and our leaders
is horrifying. This reflects in our
global image and how others
perceive us. We no longer show strength as a world leader,
but a country divided and chaotic. This negative imagery and
mindset will haunt this nation for years to come if we do not
make changes rapidly to the current perception.
~ Deanna Renda, Founder and CEO, Naples Soap Company

Implement a dress code! On a serious note, I would
take care of our own first—Our homeless, mentally/physically
challenged, veterans and our elderly. Prisoners would be
punished the same way they committed their crime or
be sent to the front line to defend our country.
~ Sandra Hoskins, Patient Coordinator, NCMA,
Wilson’s Wellness Center
Lift all or most of the regulations on businesses that have
been put in place over the last number of years so that
people can confidently invest in and grow their businesses.
Implement line item veto. Far too much spending gets
hidden in bills that on the surface are good. Cut taxes and
rein in spending. I would also pull back from all the political
correctness that is destroying our country. I would also
repeal the Affordable Care Act.
~ Darlene Ballew, Owner, Audiology
and Hearing Care of SWFL

I am fortunate that the generation of women
before me paved the way for equal employment opportunities
in the legal industry. The women I work with are strong and
confident leaders who hold the keys to advancing their careers.
~ Beth Vogelsang, Lawyer, Stockholder, Henderson,
Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A.
That we need to speak up more when we see things that are
unjust or things that we don't like. We cannot sit silent and
hope that others speak out. We need to have a voice and
we need to be heard.
~ Jennifer Johnson, Owner, True Fashionistas Designer Resale
Women haven’t always put themselves first or stood up for
themselves at the workplace, especially when working with
male counterparts. You can see that pattern has changed
over the years when you look at all the women in leadership
positions from small companies to Fortune 500. I believe it's
as important to be as professional on the outside as you are
on the inside.
~ Wilma Boyd, President and CEO, Premier Travel of Naples
I have seen a pattern in the beauty industry of women getting
stuck in a rut with their job. They finish cosmetology school
and never continue their education in our industry. Continuing
education is the biggest thing that women can do to advance
their careers.
~ LaDonna Roye, LaDonna Roye Hairstylist

A 2016 survey on corporate health
and well-being stated more employers
are investing in “total well-being” pro-
grams that address areas like emotional
health. Further, stress management is the most popular
emotional well-being program offered—54 percent of em-
ployers currently offer such a program, and an additional
12 percent are planning to in 2017. Employees report deep
decreases in stress levels and sleep problems, regaining
62 minutes per week of productivity, which translates to a
return to the company of more than $3,000 per employee
per year. I anticipate bringing the Mindfulness-Based Stress
Reduction into more corporations, providing on-site train-
ing for employees.
~ Madeline Ebelini, Founder, Integrative Mindfulness,
Bonita Springs

new regulation changes come about. But, most importantly,
I remain true to my mission of providing quality care

~ Niki Varveris, PT, DPT, MSPT, MBA, Owner, PhysioNetics
Two areas that I practice in are employment and health
care law. I take a proactive approach with my corporate
clients and train their employees in HIPPA, DSHA and
other laws to avoid accidents and fines, which can be
the demise of a company.

I remember to
feed my soul.
My creativity
depends on
my being in
a quiet state
of peace, joy
and thankful-
ness. For me
personally: Heart-
to-heart hugs with
those I love; relaxing swim
in salty Gulf waters; my husband’s face;
saying a prayer as I pass a hospital, a place
I’ve frequented too often; living each day well;
sharing laughter; and being kind.
~ Emily James, Artist, Owner, Emily James Art Gallery
I keep running lists of things "to do" and prioritize them with
deadline dates. This keeps me on track to make sure I am being
productive and getting things done.
~ Michelle Spitzer, Owner, MaidPro of Naples
Once a month, I make a vision board. I cut and paste images of
things that inspire me onto a piece of blank paper. They are things
that represent goals and dreams in all areas of my life. It is a tool
that I use to help me concentrate and maintain focus on specific
goals. I then place it on my nightstand and reflect on it every night
before going to bed.
~ Kathy Strasen, Owner, Tickled Pink
Lists! Like most women, I am juggling a career, children, parents,
homes and a personal life. To stay focused and productive,
you must be organized. To stay organized, I have to have a list.
