Egypt is a Muslim country where it is convenient to observe some social conventions and customs related to religion. When entering mosques you should always take your shoes off, women can‘t come in shorts or short skirts and bare shoulders (there are cloaks that ladies can use).

In Cairo you should visit the Egypt Museum, which is the biggest in the world, the big Pyramid and Amr’s mosque, the most ancient in Egypt, Ahmad Ibn Tulun mosque, Muhammad Ali mosque.On the other side of the Nilo, there is the “city of the dead”, were you can visit the famous necropolis of the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens and Valley of the Nobles.

The best-known restaurants in Cairo are: Felfela Restaurant, La Bodega Restaurant and Elezba Restaurant. This is a bit expensive. They all serve traditional egyptian food.In most restaurants a small plate of food costs 1.50 € and a large plate costs about 3 €.

In Cairo there are 52 hotels, some of the best known are: Husa Pyramids Hotel, Resort Sol Y Mar Solaya, Delta Casablanca Hotel, Hotel Intercontinental Citystars. In Cairo you must choose whenever possible 5-star hotels for the health criteria are different from those of most countries.

You can travel by Tram, metro, taxi and bus. To better see the city the ideal means of transport is the tram. However, in the desert people travel by kamel.
