Answer:
3 Radial Tires
No Radial Tires. Michelin introduced radial tires in 1948—the first car with them standard was the mighty Citroën 2CV but Porsche hadn’t adopted them by 1959.

Protecting Your Privacy on the SGVR app
We hope you are enjoying the San Gabriel Valley Region smartphone app. As you know, it lists all the
members subscribing to the app. It defaults to displaying your e-mail address and telephone number.
In early October 2017, a vendor who is also an SGVR member harvested e-mail addresses and began
sending advertising to those addresses, which was contrary to our terms of service. We have received
complaints.

Reggie Jacksons’ 356A Speedster Needs a New Home
Bring-a-Trailer hasn’t always yielded good results for extremely rare classic cars but somebody in
Houston, TX has chosen it to market a genuine Speedster that once belonged to Reggie Jackson.
The auction ends Today, Tuesday, 23 December 2017 at 11:00 AM PDT at
bringatrailer.com/listing/1956-porsche-356a-speedster
1956 Porsche 356A Speedster
From Bring-a-Trailer:
This 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster is an early US-spec model that was completed on January 19, 1956
and is finished in white over red leather upholstery. Equipped with sealed-beam headlights, this
example was the 11th ‘A’ Speedster built and was distributed through Max Hoffman in New York. Now
showing 37,104 miles, the car benefits from a prior comprehensive restoration and was recently cared
for as part of the Reggie Jackson collection. Power comes from a numbers-matching 1600cc flat-four
paired to a correct-type 4-speed manual gearbox, and a mechanical inspection/service was completed
prior to this auction, along with a 40-hour detailing, and steam cleaning of the engine and
undercarriage. This Speedster is now being offered by a dealer with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity,
Kardex, a factory tool kit, owner’s manual, jack, spare, weather equipment, and a clean Texas title.

Weekly Update 12 December 2017
sgvr.pca.org 32 of 42 facebook.com/PCA-SGVR
This Speedster received a factory-correct repaint in white years ago during the restoration. The seller
states that the body is straight throughout, with consistent panel gaps all around. Braking is handled by
drums at each corner, and 4½ x 15” chrome wheels wear moon caps.
As highlighted in the photo gallery, the front trunk contains a factory jack and matching spare assembly
held in place by a correct cloth tire strap. The ’11’ stamped on the bonnet hinge matches the last two
digits of the chassis number. A black cloth top and side curtains with a stowage bag will accompany the
sale, along with a full-cab tonneau/boot cover for open air motoring, plus a complete and correct tool
kit.
The red upholstery and black carpeting were redone during the restoration, and they appear to be
holding up well in the provided pictures.
The cabin is stock to the seller’s knowledge, with all trim reportedly accounted for. All instrumentation
and lighting is in good working order. The odometer currently displays 37,104 miles and is believed to be
correct.
Power is provided by a numbers-matching 1600cc flat-four, which is equipped with Weber carburetors
and mated to a correct but non-original 4-speed transmission. A recent mechanical inspection and tune-
up was completed by the seller. Compression readings are detailed in the photo gallery below.

Engine #60669 is correct for this chassis according to the CoA below and the Kardex, which is shown in
the photo gallery. The seller has also provided pictures of additional factory stampings throughout the
car and drivetrain.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity details the completion date, correct numbers, white on red color
combination, and more. A video detailing the vehicle can be viewed at Bring-a-Trailer or You-Tube.

Porsche Confirms Plans for Four-Car GTE-Pro Effort for 24H Le Mans
Porsche confirms plans for four-car factory GTE-Pro effort for 24 Hours of Le Mans…
From Sportscar 365, by John Dagys December 9, 2017
Photo: Porsche
Porsche has confirmed plans to enter four factory GTE-Pro cars in next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans,
which will include the race debut for its CORE autosport-run operation.
As revealed by Sportscar365 last month, the German manufacturer had been considering an increased
effort for the French endurance classic, amid the company’s increased focus on GT racing following its
exit from LMP1 competition at the end of this year.
It will result in two mid-engined Porsche 911 RSRs from its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
program joining the Manthey-run FIA World Endurance Championship entries.
The two CORE-run cars are subject to approval by the ACO Selection Committee.
Newly named WEC pairing Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz will be joined by Fred Makowiecki in the
No. 91 Porsche, with Laurens Vanthoor teaming with full-season pilots Kevin Estre and Michael
Christensen in the No. 92 entry.

The No. 93 car is set to feature Porsche’s full-season IMSA trio of Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Earl
Bamber, with Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Sven Mueller expected to share driving duties of the
No. 94 Porsche.
With Bamber, Bernhard, Dumas and Tandy, a total of four overall Le Mans winners would be
represented in the lineup.
It will mark Porsche’s largest concentrated single-class factory program at Le Mans in recent history.
Bruni Returns to WEC in Revised Lineup
As expected, Gianmaria Bruni will make his return to the WEC full-time, having been confirmed in the
No. 91 Porsche alongside Lietz.
The Italian driver joined Porsche mid-year in the WeatherTech Championship, following an early end to
his contract with Ferrari, which prevented him from competing in WEC this year.
Bruni and Vanthoor combined for two podium finishes in 2017, along with a GT Le Mans class pole by
Bruni at Lime Rock.
Christensen and Estre will continue to share wheel of the No. 92 Porsche for the WEC’s new ‘Super
Season’ which will encompass both the 2018 and 2019 races at Le Mans.
Seven Customer 911 RSRs Confirmed
Porsche, meanwhile, has confirmed it has sold a seventh customer 911 RSR, expanding on its original
commitment of six cars for next year.
Longtime Porsche single-make entrant Project 1 announced last month it has acquired one of the cars,
which is expected to be run in the WEC.
Proton Competition has ordered four 2017-spec cars, with Gulf Racing confirming one and an additional
car to a yet-to-be-announced team, believed to be Asian based.
The customer efforts will be run in the WEC and European Le Mans Series, with none of the cars slated
for the WeatherTech Championship.
