OCT. 30, 2021 – SAN DIEGO 4 vs TUCSON 6 The San Diego Gulls concluded their October schedule and weekend series with the Tucson Roadrunners with a 6-4 setback at Tucson Convention Center Arena. The Gulls scored on the power play for a fifth consecutive game to start the 2021-22 season, the second longest streak to start a season in team history (eight straight games to start the 2017-18 season). Mason McTavish scored his first career AHL goal on the powerplay at 3:16 of the second period, becoming the youngest player in Gulls history to score a goal at 18 years, 9 months (previous: Jamie Drysdale, 18 years, 9 months, 28 days). Danny O’Regan netted his first goal as a Gull at 3:49 of the second period. O’Regan added an assist for his first multi-point game as a Gull (1-1=2) and has 1-2=3 points in his last two games. Jacob Perreault recorded a pair of assists for his second consecutive multi-point game (0-2=2). Perreault leads the Gulls in assists and points with 2-4=6 points in five games. SAN DIEGO GULLS NOTES TONIGHT’S GAME: The Gulls begin a four-game homestand starting tonight against the Bakersfield Condors at Pechanga Arena San Diego (7 p.m., Radio: Gulls Audio Network, Stream: AHLTV). The Gulls own an all-time record of 211-135-22-10, including 111-61-10-5 at home and 100-74-12-5 on the road. San Diego leads the Pacific Division in all-time wins, points (454) and points percentage (.601%, min. three seasons) since the division’s inception seven seasons ago. San Diego opens a 10-game November schedule tonight (six home, four road), having posted a 28-23-1-1 record in the month all-time. Tonight also marks the third of 24 back-to-back sets of games. The Gulls are 127-87-14-6 in all-time back-to-backs, including 64-45-4-4 in the first contest. Following tonight’s game, the Gulls will continue their homestand Saturday, Nov. 6 vs. the Colorado Eagles (7 p.m.). GULLS-CONDORS: San Diego and Bakersfield begin a six-game season series tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego. The Gulls won five of the eight meetings between the clubs in 2020-21 (5-3-0-0), including the first four of the season and all four contests on home ice, claiming the season series for the fourth time in the past five seasons. The Gulls own a 30-20-1-2 mark all-time against Bakersfield, with a 16-9-0-1 record in San Diego (14-11-1-1). NEW BENCH BOSS: Joel Bouchard enters his first season as head coach of the San Diego Gulls, becoming the third head coach in Gulls AHL history. Named to his current position on July 9, 2021, Bouchard spent the past three seasons as the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens' primary development affiliate in Laval, guiding the club to an 83-67-14-10 record. He led the Rocket to a 23-9-3-1 record in 2020-21 to win the Frank S. Mathers Trophy as winners of the Canadian Division while posting the second-highest points percentage in the AHL (.694). Bouchard spent seven seasons from 2011-18 as general manager of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), while also serving as head coach from 2014-18. In 272 games behind the Armada bench, he posted a 160-80-23-9 record,
including consecutive QMJHL President Cup Finals appearances in 2017 and 2018. Internationally, Bouchard served as the general manager of the Canadian National Junior Team for two years, assembling a roster that won a gold medal at the 2018 World Junior Championship and silver in the 2017 tournament. DUCK CALLS: Tonight’s Gulls roster includes 15 NHL Draft selections, including nine by the Anaheim Ducks. Four were chosen in the first round by Anaheim, including Jacob Larsson (27th overall in 2015), Mason McTavish (3rd overall in 2021), Jacob Perreault (27th overall in 2020) and Brayden Tracey (29th overall in 2019). YOUTH MOVEMENT: With an assist in his AHL debut on Friday, Oct. 29 vs Tucson, Mason McTavish became the youngest player in Gulls history to appear in a game and earn a point (18 years, 8 months, and 29 days), surpassing the previous mark both set by Jacob Perreault in 2020-21 (18 years, 9 months, 21 days). McTavish notched his first AHL goal the following night in Tucson to become the youngest player in Gulls history to score a goal (18 years, 9 months), supplanting Jamie Drysdale’s record set in 2020-21 (18 years, 9 months, 28 days). THEY GOT THE POWER: San Diego has scored a goal on the power play in each of their first five games to start the season, marking the second longest such streak to start a season in Gulls history. San Diego’s record for most consecutive games scoring a power play goal is eight, which began with the 2017-18 season opener on Oct. 7, 2017 with the streak running through Oct. 28. The Gulls power play ranks first atop the AHL at a 35.0% success rate (7/20), despite being tied for the fourth least power play opportunities. Their seven power play goals are tied for the sixth most among AHL teams.

Selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round (129th overall) of the 1992 NHL Draft, Bouchard played in 364 career NHL games with Calgary, Nashville, Dallas, Phoenix, New Jersey, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and New York Islanders, recording 22-53=75 points. He also appeared in 293 career AHL games, earning 37-108=145 points while being named an AHL All-Star in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Bouchard helped Canada to gold medals at the 1997 World Championship and back-to-back World Junior Championships in 1993 and 1994.

Daniel Jacob enters his first season as Assistant Coach for the Gulls. Jacobs joins the Anaheim Ducks organization after serving as Assistant Coach with the Montreal Canadiens' primary development affiliate in Laval under head coach Joel Bouchard for three seasons (2018-21). Jacobs helped guide Laval to an 83-67-14-10 record, including a 23-9-3-1 record in 2020-21 to win the Frank S. Mathers Trophy as winners of the Canadian Division while posting the second-highest points percentage in the AHL (.694). Prior to his stint with Laval, Jacob worked alongside Bouchard in the same capacity with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2014-2018, helping guide the team to back-to-back President Cup Finals appearances in 2016-17 and 2017-18. With Jacob on staff, the Armada never missed the playoffs, posting an impressive 160-80-18-14 record, and winning the Jean-Rougeau Trophy in 2017-18 as the QMJHL's regular season champions. He also served as Assistant Coach for Canada’s gold medal-winning National Men’s Under-18 Team at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, as well as Canada White at the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. A native of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Jacob played professional hockey across six seasons from 2005-2010 with stops in San Antonio of the AHL, Austria, Sweden, and Serbia, where he won a Gold Medal with Team Serbia at the 2009 IIHF World Hockey Championship Division II. He played five collegiate seasons with the McGill University Redmen from 2000-2005 and earned a degree in kinesiology. Jacob recorded 16-21=37 points and 369 PIM in 108 career games at McGill and was named to the 2004-05 CIS First All-Star Team.
Max Talbot begins his first season as Assistant Coach for the Gulls. Talbot joins the Anaheim Ducks organization from the Creative Artists Agency where he spent two years as a Player Development Consultant following a 15-year professional hockey career. Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round (234th overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft, Talbot is a veteran of 704 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Colorado and Boston. He recorded 91-113=204 points and 495 penalty minutes (PIM) from 2005-2016. He also collected 18-21=39 points in 84 career postseason games, leading Pittsburgh to a Stanley Cup championship in 2009, scoring the Stanley Cup-clinching goal in Game 7 as part of a two-goal performance. Talbot played parts of four AHL seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (2004-07) and Providence (2015-16), earning 33-43=76 points in 148 career regular season games. He also spent four seasons internationally with Omsk Avangard and Yaroslavl Lokomotiv (Russia) and Ilves Tampere (Finland), notching 30-41=71 points in 157 contests.

Named 8th head coach in Condors franchise history on April 27, 2018 and received an extension through the 2021-22 season on June 12, 2019.
In his first season (2018-19) behind the bench in Bakersfield, Woodcroft led the team to its first-ever AHL Pacific Division title, regular season Western
Conference title, AHL Calder Cup Playoffs berth, and Calder Cup Playoffs series victory. The team’s 42 wins were the most-ever for the Condors organization.
During the season, the team won 17 consecutive games, all in regulation or overtime, tied for the second longest streak in AHL history.
Internationally, Woodcroft won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2015 Men’s World Hockey Championship as an assistant coach. He was also an
assistant coach for the under-23 Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Over his NHL coaching career, Woodcroft has been part of 511 regular season wins, five Western Conference titles, six Division titles, three Presidents
Trophies and a Stanley Cup championship. He entered the coaching ranks following a six-year minor-league playing career.
The Toronto, Ontario native spent four seasons with the University of Alabama-Huntsville, where he was an Academic All-American and graduated with a
degree in finance.

Helped the Condors penalty kill to the top ranking in 2020-21 as the team captured their second division title in three seasons.
His penalty minutes total is 13th most all-time in NHL history. He was drafted in the 1st round, 11th overall of the 1985 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.
His son Josh has plays for the Anaheim Ducks.
Sylvain Rodrigue began working on a full-time basis with Condors goaltenders in 2018-19, but has been with the Oilers organization for the past nine seasons.

The 2019-20 season for the Senators was their most successful in team history with a .643 points percentage and captured their first division title. Chaulk led
the Beast to two playoff appearances including a 40-win season in 2016-17.
As a player, the Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native played 1,103 NHL games for Chicago, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Montreal, Dallas, and Toronto.
The d-man notched 390 points (102g-288a) and 2,792 penalty minutes over his 16-year NHL career.
The Montreal, Quebec native has also worked with HC Lugano (LNA – Swiss Elite League), AIK (Swedish Elite League) and Dusseldorf (DEL – German Elite
League) since 2009-10.

Dave Manson was announced as an assistant coach with the Condors on June 4, 2018.
Before heading to Europe, Rodrigue worked with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2003-2009 and was also a
goaltending instructor at Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp in 2009.
During his most recent time with the Raiders he helped develop first-round NHL selections C Leon Draisaitl (#3, EDM, 2014), D Josh Morrissey (#13, WPG,
2013), and C Mark McNeill (#18, CHI, 2011). In his first stint in Prince Albert, he helped develop first-round selection C Kyle Chipchura (#18, MTL, 2004).
Chaulk, 44, was most recently in the American Hockey League (AHL) as an assistant coach with the Belleville Senators in 2019-20. Prior to that season, he
was head coach of the Brampton Beast (2015-19), and an assistant coach with the Kalamazoo Wings (2013-15) and Fort Wayne Komets (2012-13).

DAVE MANSON - ASST. COACH BORN: JAN. 27, 1967 - PRINCE ALBERT, SASKATCHEWAN
Manson worked with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2011-18 as both an assistant and associate coach.
His playing career spanned 15 seasons and included time in the AHL, IHL, UHL, ECHL, CHL, and overseas in Italy. Most notably, the 44-year old spent a
decade with the Fort Wayne Komets where he won a UHL Colonial Cup, three IHL Turner Cups, and was a CHL champion in 2011-12. His number 91 was
retired by the Komets in 2017 and he ranks third all-time in scoring in the organization’s 70-year history.
