• Make sure you follow the slides as it is shown (partition sizes can be different depending on your needs, so discuss/ask questions in the topic regarding the sizes.

Format has to be done again, because windows automatically adds system volume information which makes it unusable for ddmac!!! Make sure to format! else ddmacwill give error saying “drive is not empty“

STAGE – 1B : DUAL BOOT PROCESS/DDMAC PREPARATION

• Dual boot process means you can boot two OS-s (Operating System-s) from one bootloader.

• DDMAC is a handy program to insert (in a special way- think of it as emulater) DVD-ROM – ISO image to a HDD partition, and allows booting from this partition as if it is DVD-ROM. As you would guess by now why it is handy and what it does? No? Means you do not need USB DVDROM or Internal DVDROM to install your favourite OS-s . Instead you can clone the iso to a partition and boot from it, which is quite fast process for starting up installer and installation process!

Page 38: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

Name your isowhatever you want and place it here

Place your ddmac folder here

3Whatever your iso name is

Your iso name can be anything you like to name it... In this example i named it nc10.iso when i copied to C:

Page 42: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

Choose the ddmac named partition for cloning

2

Page 43: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

This clone process will take about 3-5 mins, so while doing its job, DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS and DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING! Until you see “ALL DONE, HAVE FUN” message

Page 44: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

“ALL DONE, HAVE FUN” indicates that process finished successfully, and if you check your system, D:DDMAC partition should have disappeared!

Page 45: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

STAGE – 1c : SETTING YOUR BIOS TO BOOT FROM USB DVD-ROM

• This process is for people who really want to do it the hard way!!! I highly suggest using DDMAC method.• In this process, you will enter into the bios, and change settings that are crucial for the installation to start!

IF you did DDMAC process, skip the USB DVD Stage!!!

Page 46: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

Page 50: Samsung NC10 Guide v2
Page 51: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• Partitioning, Dual Boot Process, Bios Settings are completed if you followed everything correctly.

• You can proceed to Next STAGE: INSTALLATION

Page 52: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• If you set the USB CD to boot as 1st in the list correctly, now you can connect your USB DVDROM, and place the Jas DVD in it and start your Samsung.• Connect your USB Keyboard and Mouse as well

• No need to press anything wait for countdown to finish (5 sec)

Page 53: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• Just Press “Enter”, and let it boot to the “Installer Screen

Page 54: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• If you are using DDMAC process instead of USB DVD in the boot, you will see• Windows XP Home• Mac Os X System• If you choose Mac OS X System, OSX bootscreen (OSX bootloader’s boot screen)• What you need to do NEXT is to choose Smasung NC10 and press ENTER

Now it will boot into installation process

• This slide and following slide gives you idea about what to do in disk utility.• Current slide is from older screen cap, so you should see and apply things to only disk0s3 and disk0s5•You may have different size and amount of partitions depending on your choice of course, my example is made on 1-main 2-time machine/data partition 3rd one is already used for ddmac purpose.•Hope you got the idea! And not stuck with numbers etc...

Page 64: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

OSX1 is for Main installation

OSX2 is for TimeMachine or Data purposes

As I said in previous slides, you can have different size and amount of partitions for your own liking and reasons. Example given is only for basic needs with stock device.

Page 65: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• In the previous slide, you see all 3 drives are highlighted dark black colours, meaning they are MOUNTED. In case they are not highlighted (meaning not Mounted), you can right click on each of the drive (any of the OSX1, OSX2, OSX3, whichever is not mounted). And choose MOUNT option as seen in next slide.

Page 66: Samsung NC10 Guide v2
Page 67: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• Once you are finished and mounted all three drives (osx1, osx2, osx3), close the current window, and it will return to installation screen.

• Once the installation finished, it will ask you to Restart. Do it.

• Now it is time to use some USB Keyboard and Mouse, because your internal keyboard and track pad will not work.

Page 78: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• When you first restart your PC, It may start with blinking cursor, or boot error with some messages this is due to bootloaderprocess to accidently changing active partitions. To fix this, restart the machine and press F4 to go to rescue menu, and dontdo anything, just press ESC (escape button) and you will see following screen.• By default, now OSX will take over boot process, however if you like to keep XP bootloader follow 78-79-80 (now it should have dual boot option as well made by ddmac)

Page 79: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

• Choose the windows NTFS, using arrow keys, and press “Enter”. It should boot Windows XP

Page 83: Samsung NC10 Guide v2

In the next slides you will be doing lots of tasks. So better to read now and understand what you are going to be doing within next slides, and do not get confused with things you seeWhat will you do in ORDER:

1- Hotkey Creation2- Hotkey Assigning (short cut keys for controlling brightness like windows key + up arrow key will increase brightness and windows key + down arrow key will decrease brightness3- Assigning Actions for those shortcuts (after you assign shortcut keys above, you need to assign the actions such as increase/decrease brightness function with scripts.4- Once you set up actions, next task is to start using it.5- First time you use one of the functions (windows+up arrow key to increase brightness) it will ask you to enter your password so that your password can be added to Keychain for secure storage!6- Once password is set up, system will ask whether to allow adding quicksilver to access keychain (which you will ALWAYS ALLOW ☺)7- System will ask you to allow once again (you will ALLOW once more) and from that point on, everything is automated! You can control brightness manually from now on!
