he doesn’t even realize he needs it. He is lonely; he is just too trapped in himself 

to stop it.

3. Point – Before Cheryl is killed, she lives for Jason. She has decided that he is the

 person who she will live her life with and love for the rest of her life. This

decision is very significant because it has given her life meaning. She is building

herself a network and a community; however, she is sacrificing her individuality

to accomplish this.

Proof – I think, he’s now learned what I came to believe, the sun may burn

 brightly, and the faces of children may be plump and achingly sweet, but in the air 

we breathe, in the water we drink and in the food we share, there will always be

darkness in this world.

Discuss - This darkness she is talking about is the darkness that come from an

empty life. It come when there isn’t a sense of community and belonging. It

happens because everyone is trying to be unique. Cheryl recognizes that it is

inevitable in our society, but she doesn’t condemn it. Despite how awful it is, it

will always be there because it is generated by people longing to belong. It is

generated by people who haven’t found a balance between connecting with their 

community, and being unique.
