Foldablity of Shopping Bags

This concept of Topshop has been created to stand out as a new face of the flagship shop in Los Angeles. Inspiration for the Topshop design stemmed from the paper bag and all this folds linked me to origami, which translated from japanese means “Paper fold”.

The guiding features of this space are five words:

1.Inspirational= Building 2.Youthful = Customer3.Dynamic = Lighting4.Changable = Furniture5. Fashionable = Product

The design embraces not just furniture but exterior facade, lighting and signs. The shopping bags create interesting shapes that can be moulded to achieve an inviting space, which shows physical representation of chosen words.

The designed facade has two functions, window display andconnecting two levels. Mannequins shown on the staircase construction create the interacting and easy accessiable dispaly for people who walk upstairs/downstairs.

Tenement Lamp The tenement Lamp has been designed as a representation of the typical Glaswegian building. The lamp has been create as a part of exhibition with the Singapore Institute to educate young people about the life in Scotland. The lamp has a cooperative bookshelf with a layout of the building. When the lamp is turned on the ceiling appears a layout of the flat which creates an atmosphere of magic, the book contains in the lamp has a few story of the building which I have cumulated over the time of project. Metal frame work has been designed and the wood part has been laser cut. The metal frame and the colour of wood represents metal work which is part of each tenement where the wood shows the colour of the limestone used in the facade.

The photo on the left shows the finishied product, where the photo on the bottom represents a book.
