To our beloved Supporters, Friends, Donors and Members
Greetings! A very lively year is behind us, with many events and projects realised. A new year is ahead. It will bring a lot of changes. Currently we are organizing our next caritative projects and this year's Cultural & Charity Show 2011. In May, we will hold our first Jahreshauptversammlung to which members, friends and partners from all over Germany are welcome. Please have a look at our recent Newsletter which encourage your contributions. Thanks for your support last year and this year!
Love from all of us at Sampaguita
Our ProfileSampaguita e.V. is a politically independent, non-governmental and non-profit oriented network of German, Filipinos and other nationalities in Europe from diverse backgrounds which is open for everybody who sees diversity as an opportunity.
We initiate and cooperate in a wide range of projects in Europe and the Philippines. We support each in order to assure high quality standards in everything we are doing. We are active as we want to contribute to an active civil society in Europe and the Philippines. We could learn and gain experiences ourselves and profit from sharing contacts, infrastructure and knowledge.
New Board Elected In 17 October, 2010, the members of Sampaguita Deutsch-Philippinischer Club e.V. elected a new board. It consists of: Elizabeth Glienke (Trainer, Grenzach-Wyhlen), Marc Heimann (Secretary, Osnabrück), Egon Glienke (Treasurer, Grenzach/ Wyhlen), Arno Höferlin (Vice Chairman, Bad Bellingen), Araceli Heimann (Chairwoman, Rheinweiler).
The first four people mentioned form the board of Sampaguita e.V., which takes care of administrative and legal necessities.
Our office in Bad Belingen keeps the information flows going. It is run by an executive officer.
Concrete projects will realised by project teams in the future.
If you want to support us in general, like to be a member, passive or active and join one of the existing project teams or have already a specific project idea yourself, you search an experienced partner to realize it with, feel free to send us an email to [email protected].

Does it sound interesting to you? Good!
On April 28, 2011, the regional Newspaper “Badischer Zeitzung” published a first article about the project, Labor fürs Trinkwasser. We are currently developing a new fundraising strategy to get more support from good samaritans. We have also contacted the local laboratory in Lörrach to extend their expertise to the organisation.
This year, we will be sending medical supplies to a community hospital in Naguilian, La Union. We need people who could help us financially to forward small hospital equipment. Please contact Mrs. Elizabeth Glienke for more information.
Turnover of Donations, February 4, 2011Donees: City Health Office, Dumaguete City
Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital Negros Oriental High School
Dumaguete City Social Welfare
The Negros Oriental High School Biology Department receives 2 units of German made microscopes(Zeiss). This will replace their present microscopes purchased from Indonesia. The biology instructor, Mrs. Betsy Visorro, was very delighted with this big surprise. She never expected that her dreams to acquire good quality microscopes could come true very soon.
Mrs. Betsy Visorro proudly presented the donated microscopes.
High school students get a try to look into the microscopes and discover minute microorganisms and other cellular stuffs especially mitochondria which were previously not visible using the older microscopes made in Indonesia.
TURNOVER CEREMONY, Februay 4, 2010, CITY HEALTH OFFICE, Dumaguete CityAraceli Heimann, second from left, turns over donations of hospital equipment collected from the German Ministry of Defense specifically from San MatLager in Gronau, Germany. Mayor Sagarbaria of Dumaguete, third from right, expressed his deep gratitude to the Germans esp. the active members of the organisation.
Elastic gauze bandages, high quality surgical instruments, stethoscopes, syringes, autoclaves, sterilizing units, canes for the old were donated.
The Dumaguete City Health Office and the six Community Primary Hospitals in Negros Oriental yesterday received the biggest bulk of medical supplies, equipment and instruments donated by the German Ministry of Defense- Humanitary Help Department, through the Sampaguita Deutsch-Philippinischer Club.
Club president Araceli Bejar-Heimann and her husband Roland Heimann turned over the donations to the different recipients.
Witnessing the event were Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, City Health Officer Dr. Ma. Sarah Talla, Dr. Chelsa Cacaldo – Director of the Community Primary Hospitals and Dr. Felix Sy, chief of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.
Talla said they need the technical effectiveness of the City Health Office after expanding its services to the community. There is a need to achieve the capability of health workers like training, experience and availability of health equipment, she stressed.
The donation is the second by the same donors who also gave medical equipment to the city health office last year.
Also donated were a pair of crutches for the City Social Welfare Office; two microscopes for the Negros Oriental High School; 1,000 syringes and first aid kits to the 6th Community Primary Hospital in the province; a stethoscope and first aid kit to the Gawad Kalinga; and stethoscope to the municipality of Zamboanguita, among others.
Last year’s donations of laboratory equipment had been very useful in arriving at a diagnosis of ailments of their patients, Talla said.
Sagarbarria also said the donations are timely with his plans to form mobile dental clinics in all the 30 barangays of Dumaguete.
The mayor said the mobile dental clinics need these equipment to be able to serve the people in the barangays. This will help decongest the NOPH, he also said.
Meanwhile, Cacaldo also expressed gratitude for giving the Community Primary Hospital a share of the 2011 donated medical supplies and medical instruments.
She said the medical supplies, like bandages, are very useful for the community hospitals in the mountains. She said the top three leading causes of medical consultation are due to motorcycle accidents.
Motorcycle accidents are most common in the mountains because of the presence of the “habal-habal,” the only mode of transportation available in the area.
Other recipients of the donations are Dr. Ramon Ong of the Gawad Kalinga who received one stethoscope and a first aid kit.
The municipal health officer of Zamboanguita, Dr. Helen Teves, received one stethoscope, while Negros Oriental High School also accepted two boxes of microscopes complete with accessories.*MA/JG
The City of Dumaguete awarded the organisation
the Plaque of Reccognition for its
efforts in unselfishly sharing the resources for the
benefit of the residents of Dumaguete. The
Plaque was gratefully signed by the Mayor of
Dumaguete and the Director of the City Health
Office, Dra. Ma. Sarah Talla. After the turnover
ceremony, the City Mayor invited the Donor
for lunch together with other invited guests..

The Lord is my programmer; I shall not crash.
He installed his software on the hard disk of my heart;
all of his commands are user-friendly.
His directory guides me to the right choices for his name's sake.
Even though I scroll through the problems of life,
I will fear no bugs, for He is my backup.
His password protects me.
He prepares a menu before me in the presence of my enemies.
His help is only a keystroke away.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and my file will be merged with his and saved forever.
Amen
