Dear Students and Teachers of International School Bangkok, My name is Sammie March. I am a former student of ISB. In 2009, I have moved to Tokyo and I now study in Nishimachi International School in Tokyo. As you may know, recently a magnitude 9.0 earthquake hit just offshore Sendai, Japan, followed by a 10 meter tsunami. As of today, over 2,100 people are missing or have died in the earthquake and the tsunami. This quake had a larger magnitude than the Chile earthquake. Honshu region (which includes Sendai, Fukushima, and Tokyo), are still experiencing aftershocks and expect to for the next month. The quake was so strong that it moved Japan 2.4 meter from its original position. One of the nuclear power plants has exploded. The victims of the Japan earthquake need help. The earthquake hit Tokyo on March 11 th while I was in school. The entire building shook. We were all hiding under our tables. The open windows were banging and our doors that split the large classroom in half were opened by itself. My friend, Jane, her sister Sonia and their mother stayed over at my house that night because all the train lines were closed and they had no way of getting home. ISB can help contribute to the victims of the earthquake by donating money to the people who have lost their homes in the tsunami and earthquake. Thank you for your support. Send the donation to: American Red Cross Society at their website: www.redcross.org . Click the donation funds box and click Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. Sincerely, Sammie March
