A joke on April Fool’s Day

On Monday night I was working hard in front of the

computer and found that a friend in Hong Kong who likes

joking much had posted a message that he would divorce

with his wife after three years of marriage. My friend recently

had some unhappy happenings and came to Melbourne and

we had the opportunity to have a chat. Hearing about his

divorce with his loving wife, I was puzzled. I realized that it

might be a joke as that day was April s Fool Day.

In order to indicate that I was not a fool, I should voice

out that it must be a joke. However if it were true, such a

response would just like rubbing salt into the wound. So I

sent a private message to him, asking about what we could

do for him. The response was that it was really a joke and

the sadness would only last until the end of the day.

Of course, I do not want to believe the divorce

announcement of my friend is real, just like the fans of Leslie

Cheung, the famous singer in Hong Kong would not like to

believe that his suicide was real ten years ago at 1 April .

Then suddenly I realized that in the world, there were not

so many things that we could really think as impossible.

There are so many absurd things happened in our lives

from the news. Say, North Korea, a small and poor country

threatened to launch nuclear attack on America, but nobody

would say this would be impossible. Say the Basic Law in

Hong Kong listed a general election for the Chief Executive

of SAR in 2017, but nobody would think a pre-selection

through the criteria of Loving China and Loving Hong

Kong would not happen. Say who could have thought the

anti-climax of attack on Julia Gillard by the Rudd s Camp

would result in a spill of leadership without a challenger.

In the past few years, I really have gone through a test on

my faith. I had started Sameway with a faith in God without

realizing that it was a so difficult job. The unexpected

economy downturn in past 5 years had put us in a worse

position financially and everyday we can only continue with

our faith. In a Friday, I received an email from a supporter

in Sydney telling me that he would be donate a sum to

us and I could not even believe that could be true. On a

second thought, I realized that in man we cannot, but in God

everything is possible. What I could do then was to thank

the supporter and the God who has walked with us for so

many years.

Yes, in such an unforeseeable world, only the eternal creator

can give us faith in the future.
