Committee Mission
• From Objective 2.6 of SAME Strategic Plan:
"Promote the engineering career field at colleges and universities through Student Chapters, mentoring programs, scholarships and career planning seminars."

• Currently contact Post POCs twice/year• Provide input to SAME News leading up to
and after annual Student Leadership Conference
• ~60 Post POCs • 37 “formal” student chapters

2010-2011 Goals
1. Increase the number of active Student Chapters, particularly in cases where there is already a relationship between the Post and a college or university
2. Increase Student Membership by surveying Posts with Student Chapters to identify "Best Practices" and develop ideas on how to make Student Membership valued by architecture, engineering and environmental students

2010-2011 Goals
3. Ensure one student from each active/official chapter attends annual Student Leadership Workshop
4. Register academic institutions for all active student chapters since membership is now free
5. Establish student chapters at culturally diverse universities
6. Work with Scholarship Task Force to develop tracking program for students at universities

2010-2011 Work Plan
• 1 Sep 10: Contact Posts with Student Chapters to update distribution lists for Student Leaders
• 15 Sep 10: Announce Student Leadership Workshop to Post Leaders
• Ongoing: Leverage technology (facebook and LinkedIn) to enhance communications and outreach efforts
• Ongoing: Have regional committee members work with local Posts contacting schools
• 13 Jan 11: Student Leadership Workshop– Las Vegas (Hoover Dam, Nellis or Aria tour)

Committee Accomplishments
• More than tripled the amount of student chapters in three years (11 to 37)
• Spearheaded and turned over social networking initiatives that are now being deployed “society-wide” with full time social media manager
• Website serves as a format for other committees/councils
