Amity School of Engineering Newsletter April 2015
Over 120 students of Amity School of Engineering from
different branches comprising of all the academic
years enthusiastically participated in the three hour
workshop starting from 10 am to 1 pm. The workshop
started with Mr Eshaan giving the introduction to MATLAB. MATLAB
which stands for Matrix Laboratory is a multi-paradigm numerical com-
puting environment and fourth-generation programming language. De-
veloped by MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plot-
ting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of
user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other lan-
guages, including C, C++, Java, Fortran and Python.
The workshop mainly emphised to introduce MATLAB's basic func-
tions such as viewing the RGB values of a given picture to complex
functions and stimulations such as virtually processing trajectory of a
ball under given parameters to stimulation of a vehicle in different con-
ditions such as turns, steeps and slopes. Also he describes the stress and
strain on tyres of a vehicle at different speeds which were also included
in the content list. Resizing image was one of the prominent key points
of the workshop. The workshop concluded with Mr Sonu giving a brief
about ‘CETPA’ and various programs it offered.
The overall workshop was a success with an enthralling and interactive session
between students and the representatives.
The student co-ordinators for the workshop were Ankur, Ayush, Abhay, Niket,
Pravesh, Preeti, Sahil, Shruti, Shashikant, Rashmi, Lava, Swaroopa, Baljeet,
Rashi, Raga Sumanth, Lalit who were
co-ordinated by faculty in-charge Mr
Yogesh Kumar.
MatLab Workshop 19th March 2015: Amity Club of Embedded System,
Amity School of Engineering hosted a one day work-
shop on MATLAB at C block Auditorium. The work-
shop was conducted by Mr Sonu, Mr Eshaan, Ms.
Ashima and Mr. Vidit Mathur from the CETPA In-
foTech Pvt. Ltd. who hosted the workshop on the
above mentioned subject.
CETPA, the Acronym of "Computer Education &
Technology Promotion Association" , believes in quality because knowledge matters. CETPA IN-
FOTECH PVT LTD is the largest training service pro-vider in various engineering domains for all Engineer-ing students as well as for the working professionals. CETPA has been awarded as the “Best IT and Embed-ded Training Company” for 4 consecutive years for delivering high quality training and workshops at more than 500 colleges across India. It’s a trustworthy brand in Education and Training industry with presence across several cities such as Noida, Roorkee, Lucknow

10 February 2015: Amity School
of Engineering hosted a workshop
on Embedded Systems in B block.
The workshop was conducted by
Mr. Piyush Upadhyay and Mr.
Devendra Pratap Singh from the
SOFCON India Pvt. Ltd. who
hosted the workshop on the above
mentioned subject.
SOFCON India Pvt Ltd
is NSDC affiliated & Funded
company. It imparts hands-on
training on Industrial Automa-
tion, Embedded Systems,
VLSI, Building Automation,
HVAC, Fire Detection and
Alarm, Access control, Auxiliary
Power system etc. to engineers
Around 50 students of Amity School Of Engineering enthusias-tically participated in the 2 hour workshop. The students were from different brances from 2nd year and 3rd year. The workshop started with Mr. Piyush Upadhyay giving the introduction to Embedded Sys-tems. An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechani-cal or electrical system, often with real-time computing constraints. It is embedded as part of a complete device often including hardware and mechanical parts. Embedded systems control many devices in common use today. Low power consumption, small size, rugged operating ranges and low per-unit cost makes it a unique technology on which all other technologies rely. The overall workshop was a suc-cess with an enthralling and inter-active session between students and the representatives.
At Indian Airforce Station, Palam
Guardians of Sky We feel proud to be Indians. Our defence forces guard the land, air and water so that we can live
peacefully. Just as the sub-zero temperatures of Siachen glacier do not affect The Indian Army,
Sky is not the limit for the brave officers of Indian air force.
Embarking on its first sortie in virtual world, the Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a 3D mobile game
'Guardians of the skies' in a bid to attract the techno-savvy generation-next youth to pursue a ca-
reer in the air force and to tap the best of the human resources from the upcoming generations.
The game was launched in Amity, NOIDA where Students of Amity School of Engineering (ASE)
got the opportunity to visit the Air Force Station and review the game. Not only
did these gadget-geeks get to learn how the app works, it also
motivated them to become great patriotic men and women
ready to serve the country in any situation. .
GOTS, which is freely available on android, windows
and iOS platforms for mobile, has been conceptual-
ised to showcase the might of the air force in a
virtual format with users being offered gripping air
combat scenarios and realistic graphics.
The game is targeted at the youth, to give them
the feel of the excitement that our brave officers
in the Air Force experience everyday.
The storyline is fictitious, the enemy is fictitious but
the gaming experience will be real. There is certainly
a need for better human resource along with modern
technology as the deciding factor in future conflicts. Real-
istic missions, awards and points are a reason why this app
stands out amongst the others. Salute you- The Indian Air Force
for this endeavor.
Jai Hind!

Curtain Calls
13th Feb,2015: Curtain Calls, the official English Theatre Socie-ty of ASE, brought laurels to the institution by winning the title of 'Best Theatre Society In Amity University' for their production KALI at the Amity Youth Fest,2015.
Curtain calls had participated in the event 'Broadsway' in C-block Auditorium on 13th Feb'15. The society competed with 19 different theatre groups from various institutions, in and out-side Amity, sharing the award with Azmie, the Hindi theatre society of ASET.
As we celebrate the enormous success of CC, we will take you on a ride through the team's journey so far, through the columns of our newsletter.
CC was founded two years ago by Mr. Prakhar Nandi Srivastava in association with Mr. Ut-karsh Srivastava and Mr. Zohaib Mohammed. This marvellous society of 13 members had a humble beginning with only 5 theatre enthusiasts in their performance at Freshers' party 2013. At AYF'14, CC brought to us the play 'Aye Raju', written and directed by Prakhar and enacted by Zohaib, Guragam and Vaishakh V. Kumar.
KALI is a new-age adaptation of the legendary Indian writer Kalidas's life and his unsaid love-story with Vidyottama, the princess. As the play is set in modern era, it had an illiterate Kali and the brainy beauty Veronica in the lead, played by Gopan and Ojaswini respective-ly. The character of veronica's angelic friend Angelica was played by Tanya while Anupriya played her devilish friend, Monika. As the perspective grooms, Zohaib essayed the role of the leacheourous Prem Chopra while Adil became Royal Prince Zorawar Singh Rathore Of Jai-pur. Vaishakh and Guragam played Veronica's father and Kali's teacher respectively. The play was narrated in Ritika's voice. Prakhar brought the twist to the story by himself portraying the transformed Kali.
