Cycle salisbury – bike education workshops for new arrivals and Cald CommunitiesCycle Salisbury is a program run by the City of Salisbury’s Healthy Communities team which promotes cycling and encourages people to get back on their bikes, or learn how to ride for the very first time.

Recently a group from the Migrant Resource Centre enjoyed a CycleSafe workshop, run by Bike SA as part of the Cycle Salisbury program. The workshop consisted of two, three hour sessions and was enjoyed by participants from African, Burmese and Bhutanese backgrounds.

For one member of the group it was their first time on a bike! Participants learnt basic bike handling skills, as well as road rules and riding in traffic. All enjoyed the experience and had fun while learning how to ride safely. The workshops were such a success, more sessions are planned for later this year.

The Cycle Salisbury program is open to all adults and has a range of activities to help you get back on your bike. Participants who attend a Cycle Salisbury workshop receive a free high visibility safety vest and puncture repair kit.

Whether it’s learning how to ride safely, fixing a puncture or just having fun in a social riding group, the Cycle Salisbury program has something for you. For information on the Cycle Salisbury program contact the Healthy Communities team on 8406 8251 or visit www.salisbury.sa.gov.au/cyclesalisbury
