After 25 Years of spectacular personalaccomplishment in the automotiveindustry, John Z. DeLorean wasconvinced that it was possible to

build a car with a useful life of more than just afew years. A total performance car that wouldbe economical to run and safe to drive, withoutcompromising quality and comfort for price.With the founding of the DeLorean MotorCompany in 1975, he set out to prove it couldbe done.

It was an ambitious project, and only expertswere called to the task. Top engineers and desi-gners rendered the DeLorean concept withvision and foresight using corrosion resistantmaterials and new technology, and in just a fewshort years the dream began to take shape.

The DeLorean sparks the imaginationlike a classic vision of things to come.New materials, new technology andtraditional values masterfully joined in

a showcase of contemporary engineering. Its pre-cisely counterbalanced gull-wing doors rise oncryogenically preset torsion bars and need only14 inches of side clearance. The softly brushedstainless steel exterior cannot fade or chip. Eventhe sporty rear louvers have been carefully desi-gned to minimize aerodynamic drag, while theyreduce window glare. Because you simply cannotcreate a masterpiece with arbitrary lines...

ve side trim runs the full length of the automo-bile; halogen headlights, side markers and highintensity backup lights provide maximum visi-bility and safety while driving after dark. Eventhe semi-rigid bumpers have been endowedwith a "memory" which helps them return totheir proper shape after minor mishap. ience: fully adjustable seats and power win-dows; a tilting, telescoping steering column;double weather seals, air conditioning and aseven position dual system of total climate con-trol; full instrumentation and dual electricremote side view mirrors; variable speed winds-hield wiper/washer; extra storage space rightbehind the seats; centralized door locking andan AM/FM stereo cassette radio with a Dolbynoise reduction system, electronic channelselection memory and digital frequency display.Truly an impressive array of standard featuresand equipment.

It´s more than just the end result of cle-ver engineering and good workmanship- total performance is the absolute stan-dard against which each individual

DeLorean component must be judged. Agood example of this is the special treatmentof the all-steel backbone chassis. It is actu-ally sealed in fusion-bonded to protect itfrom corrosion. Or the way the 35/65 rearweight bias enables fully independent sus-pension to combine with rack an pinionsteering for fast, sensitive handling responsethat needs no power assistance. To really letyou feel the road - not just follow it!

Nestled within the rear arms of the ruggedbackbone chassis, there´s a healthy and fuel-efficient 2,85 liter V6 power plant thatemploys Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuelinjection and develops 130 SAE net horse-power at 5500 rpm. So whether you´veselected the standard full synchro 5-speedtransmission or the optional 3 speed auto-matic, you´re in for a thoroughly rewardingexperience when you drive a DeLorean.

Performance also means a 4-wheel disc bra-king system for progressive, fade-free stopp-ping power. NCT steel belted radials for suretraction when it counts. Both of whichbecome an integral part of the De Loreandriving experience.

The DeLorean Motor Company´sassembly subsidiary is situated ona carefully planned 72 acre site inDummury, Northern Ireland. Five

major structures comprising more than650,000 square feet have been designed andequipped exclusively for the assembly andtesting of the De Lorean. But extensive useof advanced production technology is notthe plantÂs only distinction.

Unlike the traditional assembly method inwhich each worker repeats a single, monoto-nous task again and again, De Loreanemployees perform several different jobs as amember of a team.
