Gyro Sensors

The new EMX range has built-in Gyro Sensors (like in a smartphone), which allow the

camera to detect the orientation and mounting angle automatically:

The camera automatically rotates the image in 90 degree steps to the correct

position, when ceiling or wall mounted.

The camera knows its focal length setting, zoom position and orientation from

the gyro sensor, so the user only needs to input the camera’s mounting height

and optional location co-ordinates manually. This allows for quicker and more

accurate calibration of the Essential Video Analytics.




Calibration:

• To classify objects accurately as a person, bike, car etc. the image must be calibrated, so it can judge the size, shape and distance from the camera.

• Sony cameras include advanced features to aid installation and configuration of EVA. Sensors in the camera provide information about the camera orientation and lens configuration so that calibration can be done easily.

• Video Analytics is more reliable the better it is calibrated. For short-range intrusion detection in controlled environments no operator calibration is required, but to differentiate objects reliably, calibration is required.

With conventional Video Analytics the distance, height, lens

angle, angle of view and additional information are required to

get a good degree of accuracy.

Using Gyro Sensors with EVA most of this is handled

automatically so only the height is needed.
