GUEST ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

We have put great effort into making the arrival and departure process from our properties as effortless and seamless as possible for guests. Patagonia is a remote land, and arriving is often an adventure in itself. The following is what guests’ travel to Patagonia Sur will look like.

17

In order to get to Patagonia Sur properties, the LAN flight from Santiago, Chile (SCL) to Puerto Montt, Chile (PMC) departs at 8:00 AM. Due to variability in flight arrival times and the amount of time needed to purchase reciprocity tickets and clear customs, Patagonia Sur strongly recommends that all guests arrive one day prior to their departure to Patagonia, and leave one day after their return from Patagonia, to allow for any delays or unforeseen circumstances.

• Friday morning: Arrive at the Santiago International airport (SCL), where passport holders from Australia, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will be required to pay a reciprocity fee. The fee for U.S. passport holders is $140, payable in cash or by credit card. After receiving the reciprocity fee receipt and clearing immigration and customs, guests will be greeted by a Patagonia Sur representative, who will show them to their domestic flight to Puerto Montt or to their transfer to Santiago, and assist with any questions they may have.

• Saturday morning: Depart to Puerto Montt (PMC) by commercial flight at 8 AM. Arrive in Puerto Montt, where a Patagonia Sur representative will greet guests to show them to the charter flight to their final destination. Charter flights will fly directly to the Patagonia Sur property the guests are first visiting. Weather conditions may necessitate re-routing flights to other airports, which may mean a longer drive (up to four hours) to our properties.

• Saturday afternoon: Arrival at The Patagonia Sur Nature Reserve.

• Sunday through Friday: Activities, daily excursions, and exploring will be a part of this adventure-filled week, along with opportunities to relax and unwind.

• Saturday: Patagonia Sur vehicles will take guests to their departure point, where the charter plane will be waiting. Guests will then fly directly to Puerto Montt to connect with a domestic flight to Santiago, Chile.

• Saturday night: Guests connect in Santiago with their international flight to their final destination, or can choose to stay one extra night in Santiago.

Patagonia Sur representatives will be at both the Puerto Montt and Santiago Airports to orient guests and make their experience hassle-free. Our Patagonia Sur Travel Concierge can also assist guests and travel agents in planning visits to other interesting locations in Chile, or in booking any extra services.

18

important notes: • Upon entering Chile and before proceeding through immigration and customs, passport holders from Australia, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. are required to pay a reciprocity fee. The fee for U.S. passport holders is $140, payable in cash or by credit card. A receipt will be stapled to the last page of your passport and is valid for the duration of the passport.• While international flights often allow two checked bags of up to 23 kgs each (50 lbs) plus about 10 kgs of carry-on bags, the luggage capacity of our charter flights is more limited. Guests are allowed to bring one 18 kg (40 lbs) bag and a backpack or other soft-sided carry-on. It is advisable to bring duffel-type luggage which is easier to transport than hard-sided suitcases.

• For guests with additional travels outside Patagonia Sur, we can store extra luggage in Santiago and return the luggage to travelers when stopping over in Santiago. • Charter flights are exclusively for Patagonia Sur guests. Depending on the size of your party, your group will either fill a plane or share with other Patagonia Sur guests traveling on the same dates.• Charter flights depend on weather conditions. If weather becomes rough, flights will be cancelled or diverted to airports with better weather conditions. See weather cancellation policies in “Terms and Conditions”.

SAMPLEITINERARIES

We have designed three different itineraries for visitors to The Patagonia Sur Nature Reserve. Each itinerary includes 7 nights lodging on our properties, and all the activities. Together with the head guide for each property, guests will be able to customize the activities for each day during their stay. Weather conditions, guest ability level, and perso-nal preferences will be important factors when choosing excursions. Therefore, these itineraries are samples of what guests may select to do during their stay.

20

ITINERARY 1VALLE CALIFORNIA

• Saturday: Patagonia Sur representatives will meet guests at El Tepual airport in Puerto Montt (PMC) to assist with their journey to Valle California. A charter plane will be waiting at the terminal to take guests on a flight over the ocean and into the Andes Mountains to the town of Palena (if weather does not permit flying to Palena, charter flights will instead land in Santa Bárbara, a 4-hour drive from Valle California). After a 60-minute flight to the Palena runway, guests will be greeted by Patagonia Sur’s Valle California team. Guests will be driven 30 minutes to our property, where they will be welcomed in the Quincho with delicious hors d’oeuvres and a traditional Chilean Pisco Sour. For guests who want to stretch their legs, there are some easy trails close to the Qunicho, or they may opt to relax in the riverside hot tub.

• Sunday: One suggestion to begin the first full day in Valle California is a beautiful walk through El Tigre trail, visiting some of the different types of forests within Valle California. After lunch in the Quincho, guests may saddle up and go on a horseback ride to El Tronador (Thunder Hill) and find out where the hill gets its name. A delicious and hearty meal in the Quincho will be the perfect cap to an adventure-filled day.

• Monday: Hike, fly fish or float a river… our guests are free to choose. Each evening the head guide will meet with guests to review the excursion options for the following day, along with lunch and dinner options. For example: Adult guests may spend the morning fishing in El Tigre river, right next to the hot-tub area, while their children try their luck in the fun rapids of the El Tigre. An afternoon hike to Laguna Corazón, or a horseback ride to El Fraile waterfall can complete the day.

• Tuesday:A full day hike to Laguna Caiquén, a pristine Andean lake is an amazing opportunity to visit an old-growth Lenga forest (a native species of deciduous beech tree) and the chance to spot the mighty Andean condor. Upon arriving at the lake, our Chef will surprise guests with a special lunch outdoors in this amazing setting. Guests will be rewarded at the end of the day with an inviting, family-style dinner at the Quincho, where stories of the day’s adventures can be shared.

• Wednesday: Valle California is a fly fishing paradise. Once guests have mastered their technique, a floating expedition down the Palena River is a wonderful way to test new skills, and a perfect opportunity to navigate on the crystalline waters of this pristine river. There are many hidden fishing spots off-property in the area, and arriving by helicopter will give guests a perspective on geography before landing in their secret stretch of river.

• Thursday: A great choice for a half-day excursion is to visit the Patagonia Sur Foundation headquarters in the nearby town of Palena. Our guides will introduce guests to local people, with whom guests can partake in local traditions and learn about several of the Foundation’s amazing initiatives, such as the Community Weavers project. For guests looking to top off the day with some relaxation or recovery from some of the excursions, booking a massage is the best option. And of course the hot tub is always open and awaiting guests.

• Friday: Guests can round out their Patagonia experience with a daylong horseback ride in the true gaucho style, touring a large part of Valle California. Riding toward Valle El Azul, guests will visit Patagonia Sur’s large-scale native reforestation project, all the while with majestic mountains in the backdrop. Once at Valle El Azul, guests will enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the Quincho in the afternoon for a farewell asado—a gaucho style barbecue—of Patagonian roasted lamb.

• Saturday: After a hearty breakfast and a brief morning activity, like trail running along the Argentine border or one last attempt to catch that big trout, guests will be transported to the Palena airstrip (or Santa Bárbara if weather does not allow for flights into Palena) for their flight back to Puerto Montt.

Once in Puerto Montt, guests will be able to connect to their domestic flight to Santiago and connections.

Note: All daily activities are highly customizable, so your guests’ stay may be different from what is suggested in this sample itinerary.

21

ITINERARY 2MELIMOYU

• Saturday: Patagonia Sur representatives will meet guests at El Tepual airport in Puerto Montt (PMC) to begin their journey to Melimoyu. A charter plane will be waiting to take guests on a 60-minute flight to the Melimoyu airstrip, and will fly over Chiloé island and beautiful Patagonian volcanoes. Guests will be met with a warm welcome by the Patagonia Sur team. After a short boat ride across the bay, guests will be welcomed to Casa Bahía, where they will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and Chile’s traditional aperitif, Pisco Sour. For guests looking to stretch their legs after a day of travel, there are several easy trails close to the guesthouse that give an excellent introduction to this remote and pristine part of the world.

• Sunday: One possibility for the first day in Melimoyu is a beautiful morning walk to the Quincho, or start straight off on a full day walking along the Colonos beach to take in the landscape and views. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Quincho and later in the evening, a family-style meal accompained by guides at Casa Bahía.

• Monday: Hike, kayak, fly fish or float a river… our guests can choose. Each evening the head guide will meet with guests to review the excursion options for the following day, along with lunch and dinner options. For example: An early morning kayak to Melimoyu village, spotting rare birds along the way; then an afternoon helicopter ride to get a bird’s-eye view of the whole Melimoyu property and possibly toast with a glass of wine at the Melimoyu glacier.

• Tuesday: Hard-core kayakers can a choose a longer route to visit Isla Refugio, in order to catch spectacular views of Mt. Melimoyu from a different perspective, and see the surrounding marine life close up. Depending on weather conditions and mostly on luck, Chilean dolphins or playful sea lions or otters might be our guests’ companions.

• Wednesday: A relaxed morning of fly fishing on the Colonos or Marchant rivers is a lesson in fish behavior and patience, and provides the refreshing solitude for which fly fishing is famous. Given that all fly fishing at Patagonia Sur is catch-and-release, guests may be able to help our scientist in residence tag fish, in order to better understand their migration and growth patterns. After a delightful lunch in the Quincho, guests may float from the Quincho to the bay on the Colonos River, and take in the amazing scenery, while looking for chucaos, kingfishers, and other interesting bird species.

• Thursday: Now that guests have seen Melimoyu by sea and by air, and have been entranced by the natural beauty of its rivers and coast, it’s time to visit the people who live in this amazing place year-round. Together with guides, guests can hike to Melimoyu village to visit the community and meet some of the locals. Back at Casa Bahía, guests will be greeted with another delicious lunch. Afternoon options include relaxing and reading, warming up in the hot tub, or taking a leisurely stroll by the guesthouse. For adventure lovers who do not want to lose a moment of excitement, another kayak expedition on the Marchant River may be the right thing to top off the day.

• Friday: On the last full day in Melimoyu, guests may choose a half-day excursion aboard the Chucao I, navigating through the fjords of coastal Patagonia while participating in a photo safari to capture great shots of sea birds, dolphins, and other large ocean mammals. During February and March - the southern hemisphere’s whale migration season - many guests are fortunate to see amazing orcas and magnificent blue whales.

• Saturday: After a hearty breakfast and a brief morning activity, guests will be transported to the Melimoyu airstrip by boat for their return flight to Puerto Montt. During the charter flight, guests will have a final opportunity to see the Melimoyu volcano and say goodbye to Patagonia. ITINERARY 3 VALLE CALIFORNIA AND MELIMOYU

After a 60-minute flight to the Palena airstrip, guests will be greeted by the on-site Patagonia Sur team, which will drive guests in another 30 minutes to Valle California, where they will be welcomed at the Quincho with delicious hors d’oeuvres and a traditional Chilean Pisco Sour. For guests who want to stretch their legs, there are some easy trails close to the Qunicho, or they may opt to relax in the riverside hot tub.

• Sunday: One suggestion to begin the first full day in Valle California is a beautiful walk through the El Tigre trail, visiting some of the different types of forests within Valle California. After lunch in the Quincho, guests may saddle up and go on a horseback ride to El Tronador (Thunder Hill) and find out where the hill gets its name. Waiting for guests at the Quincho after an adventure-filled day, will be a warming dinner with delicious Chilean wines.

• Monday: Hike, fly fish or float a river… our guests are free to choose. Each evening the head guide will meet with guests to review the excursion options for the following day, along with lunch and dinner options. For example: Adult guests may spend the morning fishing in the El Tigre river, right next to the hot-tub area, while their children try their luck in the fun rapids of the El Tigre. An afternoon hike to Laguna Corazón, or a horseback ride to El Fraile waterfall can complete the day.

• Tuesday: A full day hike to Laguna Caiquén, a pristine Andean lake is an amazing opportunity to visit an old-growth Lenga forest (a native species of deciduous beech tree) and the chance to spot the mighty Andean condor. Upon arriving at the lake, our Chef will surprise guests with a special lunch outdoors in this amazing setting. Guests will be rewarded at the end of the day with an inviting, family-style dinner at the Quincho, where stories of the day’s adventures can be shared.

• Wednesday morning: A morning hike will allow guests to further explore the wonders of Valle California before continuing on to the second part of their journey in Melimoyu. After lunch at the Quincho, guests will be driven to Palena (or Santa Bárbara depending on weather conditions) to board a charter plane to fly to the Melimoyu airstrip, where the Patagonia Sur staff will be waiting to welcome guests and show them to Casa Bahía, our guesthouse in Melimoyu. Once in Melimoyu, guests will have the rest of the afternoon to meet the Expeditions Team and plan the second-half of their trip, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Casa Bahía.

• Thursday: Hike, kayak, fly fish or float a river… our guests can choose.

Once in Puerto Montt, guests will connect to their domestic flights to Santiago and subsequent international connections.
