MANIFESTO

Engineering the extraordinaryThere are many companies which can develop standard projects, where the work is simple and predictable. But, Saipem operates in context of breath-taking complexity, in areas of the world that are technically and logistically challenging. There is nothing obvious in our business.

Extraordinary is our everydayWith proven capabilities and a hands-on, co-operative and consistently innovative approach, Saipem builds long-term relationships, maintains intellectual and operational flexibility, and succeeds where others can’t.

Discreetly spectacular, creatively ingenious.

SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS

Since the beginning of its operations, the focus on working responsibly, collaborating with local stakeholders, creating long-term value, and providing innovative solutions for its clients have been key drivers of Saipem’s business strategy and have generated success and recognition worldwide. The company has a strong commitment to protecting and promoting human and labour rights, evidenced by its responsibility towards its people as well as by the attention it places on having an ethical and reliable supply chain.

The company’s inclusive business model aims to reinforce market opportunities for local suppliers and subcontractors, including by strengthening their competitiveness and capabilities. Further strategies are focused on the creation of employment opportunities and a robust and widespread capacity-building effort aimed at know-how transfer for local workers, the most important legacy Saipem leaves in the countries where it operates.

Its environmental responsibility is demonstrated by the continuous technological development that also minimizes environmental impacts and by Saipem’s promotion of an “environmentally friendly” culture among its stakeholders. We are equipped with an advanced Corporate Governance system and we actively take part in the fight against corruption.

INNOVATION

A long tradition in innovation driven mostly by frontier operations, a strong propensity to change, continuous technological development, and the ability to implement new instruments and operating methods are an intrinsic part of Saipem’s DNA. Where applicable, the main general drivers for our innovation are improved safety and/or operability and environmental protection.

Innovation is a pillar of the Company’s Strategic Plan focusing on three clearly defined lines:• Technology Innovation: to find innovative solutions to improve operational performance and reduce the

environmental impact of our activities• Transformative Innovation: to innovate the way Saipem operates in order to boost productivity and chase new value

propositions, also through exploitation of digital technologies• Technology Intelligence: to scout emerging disruptive technologies, both in and outside the Oil&Gas industry.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE

Prevention, care and environmental protection are fundamental values in the Saipem way of doing. Its Leadership in Health and Safety (LiHS) program is aimed to shape a strong HSE culture through the engagement of leaders, workforce and stakehoders. Thanks to the LHS Foundation, created by Saipem in 2010, this commitment and passion is now extended to the society through innovative initiatives and events that involve students, citizens and institutions.

With the installation of the J-lay tower the Saipem 7000 opens its doors to challenging deepwater projects such as the Blue Stream gasline.

Saipem lays the gasline across the Straits of Messina as part of the Transmed project.

With the acquisition of Bouygues Offshore, Saipem boosts its outstanding EPCI capabilities.

Saipem gains access to new markets, including onshore downstream and gas liquefaction by the acquisition of Snamprogetti.

Saipem starts joint-ventures with competitors like Brown & Root,Clough, Bouygues Offshore and Parker Drilling aiming to penetrate new markets and strengthen its assets.
