This Lent grow closer to Christ through a five-part video series. On this biblical pilgrimage, filmed on location in the Holy Land, best-selling author Edward Sri will walk us step by step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Mount of Calvary. Along the way, Dr. Sri and others will unpack the biblical background to these events, the prophecies, and most especially, the way Jesus is inviting us to walk more closely with Him each day.

~ LENT, A SEASON OF PRAYER, FASTING AND ALMSGIVING ~ A time of spiritual renewal and to carefully examine one’s relationship with God and others. Fasting and abstinence together with almsgiving and charitable works unite us to the crucified Christ reflected in the image of our brothers and sisters who suffer.
HERE ARE SOME WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE WITH YOUR PARISH FAMILY: · ATTEND DAILY MASS: 6:30 or 8 am or Wed. at 6:30 pm in Spanish READ AND PRAY SACRED SCRIPTURE: Adult Bible Study Wednesdays March 4th – April 1st AM or PM
· PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL DEVOTIONS: Pray the Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet
· DEVOTE TIME FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: 12 Noon – 12 Midnight every Friday

Vocations ‘ Corner During Lent, many people fast for a variety of causes: world peace, the welfare of their children, a special intention. Make vocations one of those intentions. Fasting can be a form of sacrifice for the good of others-in this case, the future of the church and as such is a very powerful prayer before the
face of Almighty God. It can take different forms: abstaining from meat either on Fridays or Wednesdays or both; just eating less or making do with simple foods; giving up doing something enjoyed. Remember also to pray for our Seminarian Victor Goranov and those contemplating a call to the priesthood.

The Children's “Liturgy of the Word” dismissal is celebrated at the Sunday, 9 am Mass, through May 2020. The children are invited to hear the word proclaimed and explained at their level. They will rejoin their families at the time of the creed, to
continue the celebration of the Mass. All children are welcome. Parents are invited to join their children, especially those too young to dismiss alone.

THIRST
Each time today’s Gospel story is read, I can’t help but think of the many television commercials I’ve seen depicting perspiring athletes lifting a beverage to their lips while the scorching sun beats down on them. Our culture has definite ideas about how to quench thirst. Today, those ideas are turned upside down. The Samaritan woman operates, initially, on the TV commercial level. She asks Jesus for the flowing water so that she will not have to keep coming to the well. Jesus then talks about what real thirst is, and how he, and he alone, can quench that thirst. Lent calls us to find those places deep within ourselves where we thirst. In our thirst, as did the Israelites, we cry out to God asking for springs of living water. Deep down we know that only the Lord can satisfy these thirsts.

Cada vez que se lee el relato del Evangelio de hoy, no puedo dejar de pensar en los muchos comerciales televisivos que muestran atletas sudorosos llevando una bebida a los labios mientras que el sol calcinante los golpea. Nuestra cultura tiene ideas definidas sobre cómo apagar la sed. Hoy, esas ideas son puestas cabeza abajo. Al inicio, la samaritana opera al nivel del comercial de televisión. Le pide agua viva a Jesús para no tener que seguir viniendo al pozo. Es entonces que Jesús le habla sobre la verdadera sed y cómo él, solo él, puede calmar esa sed. La Cuaresma nos llama a encontrar esos lugares muy dentro de nosotros donde estamos sedientos. En nuestra sed, al igual que los israelitas, clamamos a Dios pidiéndole fuentes de agua viva. Allá en el fondo sabemos que solo el Señor puede satisfacer esa sed.

As members of the Catholic Community of St. Rose, the St. Rose Journey in the Spirit Ministry is offering monthly Grief Support Group Sessions for individuals who have experienced loss through the death of a loved one. The goal of this group is to provide a process for healing within a safe and supportive environment.

2020 Census Awareness Campaign
The census is a count of every person who lives in the United States and its territories. It happens every 10 years. A complete count is critical to allocating the federal programs that receive funding based on census data, and allocating
congressional representatives among the 50 states. Impacted programs include those that address poverty, hunger, homelessness, child care, emergency services, and public safety. The U.S. Census Bureau asks about race and ethnicity in the census, but it does not collect information about citizenship or religious affiliation. The 2020 Census information is confidential. SAINT JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Joseph, someone once joked, was indeed the perfect husband: the only major character in Jesus’ story who never utters a word! But the Gospel recounts and the liturgy celebrates his silent witness of faith-filled deeds: “With a husband’s love he cherished Mary, the Virgin Mother of God; with fatherly care he watched over Jesus” (Preface of Saint Joseph, Sacramentary). Catholic devotion, therefore, hails him as patron-protector of the universal Church. Some cultures set a festive “Saint Joseph’s Table,” welcoming the poor and strangers to feast with family and friends. Tradition keeps today as the anniversary of his death, which we presume was peaceful, with Jesus and Mary present. Thus, Catholics invoke Joseph as Patron of a Happy Death. Descended from David’s house, which God finished “building” through Joseph’s provision of a home for Mary and Jesus, he was, fittingly, a carpenter by trade; thus, patron of workers. Spring, nature’s rebirth, begins between his feast and Annunciation (March 25), appropriately, since Joseph’s silent obedience and Mary’s “Let it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38) usher in humanity’s spiritual rebirth.

José, alguien bromeó una vez, era el esposo perfecto: ¡el único personaje principal en la historia de Jesús que nunca pronuncia una palabra! Pero el Evangelio cuenta y la liturgia celebra su testimonio silencioso de obras llenas de fe: "Con el amor de un esposo, él apreciaba a María, la Virgen Madre de Dios; con cuidado paternal, velaba por Jesús ”(Prefacio de San José, Sacramentario). La devoción Católica, por lo tanto, lo aclama como patrón protector de la Iglesia universal. Algunas culturas organizan una festiva "Mesa de San José", que da la bienvenida a los pobres y extraños a un festín con familiares y amigos. La tradición se mantiene hoy como el aniversario de su muerte, que presumimos fue pacífica, con Jesús y María presentes. Por lo tanto, los católicos invocan a José como Patrón de una muerte feliz. Descendiente de la casa de David, que Dios terminó de "construir" a través de la provisión de un hogar de José y María para José, él era, apropiadamente, un carpintero de oficio; así, patrón de los trabajadores.
