CUARTO DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO 30-31 DE DICIEMBRE DE 2017

El Santo Evangelio según San Lucas (Lc 2:22-40) Transcurrido el tiempo de la purificación de María, según la ley de Moisés, ella y José llevaron al niño a Jerusalén para presentarlo al Señor, de acuerdo con lo escrito en la ley: Todo primogénito varón será consagrado al Señor, y también para ofrecer, como dice la ley, un par de tórtolas o dos pichones. Vi-vía en Jerusalén un hombre llamado Simeón, varón justo y temeroso de Dios, que aguardaba el con-suelo de Israel; en él moraba el Espíritu Santo, el cual le había revelado que no moriría sin haber visto antes al Mesías del Señor. Movido por el Espíritu, fue al templo, y cuando José y María entraban con el niño Jesús para cumplir con lo prescrito por la ley, Simeón lo tomó en brazos y bendijo a Dios, di-ciendo: "Señor, ya puedes dejar morir en paz a tu siervo, según lo que me habías prometido, porque mis ojos han visto a tu Salvador, al que has preparado para bien de todos los pueblos; luz que alumbra a las naciones y gloria de tu pueblo, Israel". El padre y la madre del niño estaban admirados de seme-jantes palabras. Simeón los bendijo, y a María, la madre de Jesús, le anunció: "Este niño ha sido pues-to para ruina y resurgimiento de muchos en Israel, como signo que provocará contradicción, para que queden al descubierto los pensamientos de todos los corazones. Y a ti, una espada te atravesará el al-ma". Había también una profetisa, Ana, hija de Fanuel, de la tribu de Aser. Era una mujer muy ancia-na. De joven, había vivido siete años casada y tenía ya ochenta y cuatro años de edad. No se apartaba del templo ni de día ni de noche, sirviendo a Dios con ayunos y oraciones. Ana se acercó en aquel mo-mento, dando gracias a Dios y hablando del niño a todos los que aguardaban la liberación de Israel. Y cuando cumplieron todo lo que prescribía la ley del Señor, se volvieron a Galilea, a su ciudad de Na-zaret. El niño iba creciendo y fortaleciéndose, se llenaba de sabiduría y la gracia de Dios estaba con él. Palabra del Señor

Reflexión Hoy celebramos la fiesta de la Sagrada Familia. Esta es la gran oportunidad de contemplar al “Hijo eterno del Padre” que pasa de la familia eterna (la Santísima Trinidad), a la familia terrenal formada por María y José. ¡Qué importante ha de ser la familia a los ojos de Dios cuando lo primero que procura para su Hijo es una familia! San Juan Pablo II, en su Carta Apostólica “El Rosario de la Virgen María”, destacó firmemente la importancia capital que tiene la familia como fundamento de la Iglesia y de la sociedad humana, pidiéndonos que recemos por todas las familias con el Santo Rosario para revitalizar esta institución, porque si las familias van bien, la sociedad y la Iglesia irán bien también. El Evangelio nos dice que el Niño Jesus crecía y se fortalecía, llenándose de sabiduría, porque Jesús encontró el calor de una familia que se iba construyendo a través de sus relaciones de amor. ¡Qué provechoso sería si nos esforzáramos más y más en construir nuestras familias con un espíritu de servicio, de oración, con amor mutuo, con gran capacidad de comprender y de perdonar! ¡Seríamos como en el hogar de Nazaret, el cielo y la tierra! Construir la familia hoy es una tarea urgente. El Concilio Vaticano II dice que la familia es insustituible: “Es deber de los padres crear un ambiente de familia animado por el amor, por la piedad hacia Dios y hacia los hombres, y que favorezca la educación íntegra personal y social de los hijos”. En la familia es que se aprende a ser personas. Hablar de familia para los cristianos es hablar de la Iglesia. El evangelista san Lucas nos dice que los padres de Jesús lo llevaron a Jerusalén para presentarlo al Señor. Aquella era la ofrenda sacrificial de Jesús al Padre, fruto de la cual hemos nacido los cristianos. Considerar esta gozosa realidad nos abrirá a una mayor fraternidad y nos llevará a amar más a nuestra Iglesia. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo en Familia! Paz y bien., Padre Rodolfo

The Holy Gospel According to Luke (Lk 2:22-40)

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, He took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: "Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel. "The child's father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted —and you yourself a sword will pierce— so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. The Gospel of the Lord.

Reflection Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family. This is a great opportunity to contemplate the "eternal Son of the Father" who passes from the eternal family (the Holy Trinity), to the earthly family formed by Mary and Joseph. How important the family has to be in the eyes of God when the first thing he seeks for his Son is a family! Saint John Paul II, in his Apostolic Letter "The Rosary of the Virgin Mary," firmly emphasized the fundamental importance of the family as the foundation of the Church and of human society, asking us to pray for all families with the Holy Rosary to revitalize this institution, because if families go well, society and the Church will do well too. The Gospel tells us that the Child Jesus grew and became stronger, filled with wisdom, because Jesus found the warmth of a family that had being built through his love relationships. How beneficial it would be if we made more and more effort to build our families with a spirit of service, of prayer, with mutual love, with a great capacity for understanding and forgiving! We would be like in the home of Nazareth, heaven and earth! Building the family today is an urgent task. The Second Vatican Council says that the family is irreplaceable: "It is the duty of parents to create a family atmosphere animated by love, by piety towards God and towards men, and to favor the personal and social integral education of the children" . In the family is that you learn to be people. To speak of family for Christians is to speak about the Church. The evangelist Luke tells us that Jesus' parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. That was the sacrificial offering of Jesus to the Father, fruit of which we Christians were born. To consider this joyful reality will open our hearts to a greater fraternity and will lead us to love our Church more. Happy New Year with your Family! Paz y bien. Fray Rodolfo

We should be thankful that individuals like our parents have prioritized our faith in order to pass on these traditions, and the truths that they reveal.
