July 8, 2018 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time JULY REFLECTION FROM BISHOP MYRON COTTA Dear Youth, as you enjoy these summer months, I entrust all of you to the care and protection of Our Lord Jesus. I want to encourage you to stay close to him during the summer. Summer is not intended to take a vacation away from our faith nor our relationship with Christ. One sure way that he wants to have an ongoing relationship with you is in the Eucharist, Holy Communion. Do not deprive yourselves of his Presence during your summer break. Attend Mass with your family in order to thank him for all he is doing for you. Discern what you are called to do for him and for those around you. Get involved in your parish. Take the initiative! I especially reach out to all of you who have recently been confirmed throughout our Diocese of Stockton. For the past three months, I have had the opportunity to visit you, your sponsors, parents, family and friends who love and have supported you over the years. I am grateful to them for supporting you in your desire to receive the “out pouring” of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. As I mentioned to all of you, I pray that you be opened to the “gifts and fruits” of the Holy Spirit, your Helper. He is there for you! Remember: you are called to be “disciples” of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will empower you to follow him and to “renew the face of the earth.” Be assured of my prayers and ongoing support! Your Brother in Christ and Bishop, +Myron V.B.S. (Vacation Bible School) IS BACK! V.B.S. is scheduled for July 17th, 18th and 19th starting with Mass at 8:00AM then Vacation Bible School from 9:00AM to 12:00noon in the parish hall. MERCY IN ACTION MINISTRY Come join Mercy in Action Members, witness to the dignity and sanctity of human life on the 1st Tuesday of every month starting July 3rd, at the abortion center: 2013 Coffee Road in Modesto. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has never been, to go with a group. Fr. Raju will join us when he is able. It is Spiritual Work of Mercy to pray for the mothers in crisis and their little ones at what Msgr. Reilly, long time prayer warrior and sidewalk counselor, calls the modern Calvaries of today. We will proceed to the center after the daily Mass. If you have any questions, please call Maria at 661-6314. ADORATION NEEDS YOU! ADORERS NEEDED! St. Peter Julian Eymard writes: “Every time we come into the presence of the Eucharist we may say: This precious Testament cost Jesus Christ His life.” Let us honor Our Lord and Savior in the Blessed Sacrament for His sufferings and death on the cross for our sins-an act of complete annihilation and boundless love.— The following hours are available: Sunday: 8:00AM, 1:00PM, 3:00PM; Monday: 5:00PM; Tuesday: 6:00PM; Wednesday: 2:00PM; Friday: 12:00PM, 8:00PM. Please call Teresa at 599-8451. CONTROLLER POSITION (Full-Time/Exempt) The Diocese of Stockton Pastoral Center has an opening for an accounting Controller. This position requires the incumbent to have a BA/BS degree in finance/accounting or the equivalent. Must be strong in managing a general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and MS Excel and be able to manage and/or oversee audits. Oversees and maintains the accounting software programs, prepares monthly financial reports, and various other management reports. Manages a staff of up to two people. This position reports to the CFO. To apply, please go to the Diocese of Stockton website. ACCOUNTING GENERALIST (Full-Time, Non-Exempt) The Diocese of Stockton has an opening for a Staff Accountant. This position requires the incumbent to manage payroll, investment/bank reconciliations, cash receipts and receivable processes, fixed assets, and assists in maintaining the general ledger. Assists with the annual audit as well as other tasks as assigned. These functions are performed for several databases. Must have a BA/BS or equivalent in accounting, bookkeeping or related field or experience and have a strong knowledge of MS Excel. Demonstrated successful accounting experience with general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll, preferably in a non-profit work environment. OUR LADY OF FATIMA SCHOLARSHIP Our Lady of Fatima Scholarship Committee is seeking applicants for up to ten scholarships being offered to Parish members and their families. You must be a high school graduate of 2018 or an ongoing college student under the age of 25 planning on attending an accredited school of higher education. REFLEXIÓN DEL OBISPO MYRON COTTA PARA JULIO Queridos jóvenes, Mientras disfrutan de estos meses de verano, los encomiendo a todos al cuidado y protección de Nuestro Señor Jesús. Quiero animarlos a que se mantengan cerca de él durante el verano. El verano no es para tomar vacaciones de nuestra fe ni de nuestra relación con Cristo. Una manera segura en que él quiere tener una relación continua con ustedes es en la Eucaristía, la Sagrada Comunión. No se priven de su presencia durante sus vacaciones de verano. Asistan a misa con su familia para agradecerle por todo lo que hace por ustedes. Disciernan sobre lo que están llamados a hacer por él y por quienes los rodean. Involúcrense en su parroquia. ¡Tomen la iniciativa! Me dirijo especialmente a todos ustedes que han sido confirmados recientemente en toda nuestra Diócesis de Stockton.
