RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Office Hours

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 5th for Labor Day, and reopen Tuesday through Thursday, 10 am-4pm. Please come in or call this week if you have not regis-tered for fall classes yet.

Registration for New Families Families must be registered with the Parish Office first. Please bring Baptismal Certificate and any prior Faith For-mation records to the Religious Education office; these are needed to begin class registration. Please call the office if you have any questions; 227-1710 x 3.

Religious Education Classes All classes begin the week of September 12th. An email went out confirming all families who are registered for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are a registered family, and you did not receive an email please call the office to update your email.

ST. KATERI BIBLE STUDY The St. Kateri Bible Study meets every Thursday, 7-9 pm, in the Faith Formation Building. We are celebrating the Year of Mercy by studying Scripture and its impact on Pope Francis' writings on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. All are welcome. RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) Non-Catholic adults interested in learning about our Cath-olic faith and Catholic adults who need the sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation or Eucharist) are welcome to attend our free sessions. They take place on Thursday eve-nings, 7-9 pm, beginning immediately prior to Labor Day and culminating at the Easter Vigil, April 5th, 2017. Because this coming Easter is early, please sign up before classes begin. People have been signing up after classes have started. Call the Parish Office for information and to register.

RCIA FOR TEENS We have had an increasing number of high school students coming to us to learn about our faith who have no, or limited, prior religious education. We will be conducting a two year program to give ninth, tenth or eleventh graders a back-ground in the faith and the opportunity to receive sacraments they may have missed. We already have several signed up for next year. If you are, or know of such a student, contact Heidi Reale or Msgr. Desmond at 227-1710. 8TH GRADE FAITH FORMATION STUDENTS

SEPTEMBER BLOOD DRIVE We have a blood drive coming up on September 7th in the Church Meeting Room from 2-8 pm. We will have sign ups after all Masses this weekend. LOVE TO SING? JOIN THE CHOIR! Choir rehearsals for our new season will begin Wednesday September 21st in the church. The Saint Kateri Youth Choir provides an opportunity for girls and boys in grades 2nd through high school. Directed by Mrs. Nina Ricci and accompanied by Mr. Peter Krauss, re-hearsals are held on Wednesdays at 6-7pm in the church. The Youth Choir sings at the 9 am Sunday Mass twice a month and special holidays or events. Parents and singers are wel-come to visit the choir before deciding to commit to member-ship. The Saint Kateri Adult Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 pm in the church beginning Wednesday, Septem-ber 21st. This is not an auditioned choir, and membership is open to all high school graduates, college students and adults of all ages. The Sunday, 5:30 pm TEEN Mass is always in need of musi-cal talent. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be displaying and distrib-uting prayer shawls after all masses the weekend of 9/10 and 9/11. New members are always welcome. We meet in the Faith Formation building from 7-9 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Those interested in learning how to knit or crochet will be shown basic stitches. TLC + TEENS LOVING CHRIST + TLC All high school students are encouraged to be involved in +TLC+ events. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP A Bereavement Support Group will begin September 8th

SEPTEMBER HEALING MASS A healing Mass with a free flow of the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be held Tuesday, September 6th at St. Kateri. Guest celebrant will be Fr. James Sheridan, newly ordained by Car-dinal Dolan and serving at St. Columba Parish. Praise and worship begins at 7 pm, Mass at 7:30 in the Chapel. Individ-ual prayers for healing follow mass. ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY Please come join our wonderful group of ladies at the Altar Rosary Society. The ARS is a combination of all three parishes. We meet every 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 pm. Our first meeting will be at St. Columba Church on Mon-day, September 12th. We begin with the Rosary, Benediction and installation of new members. We continue with a meeting in the school.
