HELP US, HELP YOU.

If you use weekly envelopes for your contributions, please take the time and fill in the amount you are enclos-ing on the outside of the envelope. By doing so, you ensure that you will be properly credited for your contri-bution. Also, please do not staple or tape the envelope closed. This helps expedite the counting process.

We receive many “loose checks” in the collection. If you receive envelopes please use them. If you do not wish to receive them any longer, kindly call the parish office and let us know.

There are new brochures available at the entrances that explain the benefits of electronic giving known as Par-ish Pay. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Parish Office during regular business hours.

Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time Psalm 147: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6

Praise the Lord who heals the brokenhearted.

Praise the Lord, for he is good; sing praise to our God,

for he is gracious; It is fitting to praise him.

The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem; the dispersed of Israel

he gathers. God loves us! We give thanks for all the good in our lives. However, if we find anger in our hearts, or have a hurt we can’t put down, if we have doubts, or we feel an emptiness in our soul, tell God. It’s okay to complain to the Lord, God can handle it. He will not be surprised or offended. Praying with honesty can change us. When we give God our anger, God can heal it. When we express to God our emptiness, God can fill it. Being honest with God is an indication of the closeness of our relationship with God. Who better to give over our thoughts and hurts, but to the God who loves us? Aren’t we honest with those we love? Who better to be honest with then, but God. God de-sires a relationship with us that is free and deep enough to carry our pain. God wants us to know that we can say what we think and be who we really are. Such freedom is ours even if it in-volves anger, pain, and pessimism. Praise God!

“ Being a Christian isn’t just following the commandments; it means being in Christ, thinking like him, acting like him, lov-ing like him. It means letting him take possession of our lives and change them, transform them, free them from the dark-ness of evil and sin.” Pope Francis
