Thank you for all those who have generously given to the “No More Second Collections” collection. To date, we

have collected $11,457 (which is half of last year’s total to date). This special collection eliminates almost all 2nd collections throughout the year, which affects 100% of the parish. Please prayerfully consider being part of

your parish family in this endeavor.

Thank you for your generosity!

Food pantry

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be suspended for the summer months of July and August. With so many people away during these months, the attendance at First Friday Adoration has not been sufficient to continue during the summer. We will resume Adoration after Labor Day on Friday, September 7th.

Summer vacation is just around the corner and

the Saint Mother Teresa Food Pantry needs your

help to be ready! We are looking for donations

of items that will help parents provide daytime

meals and snacks for their children during the

summer when the children are not in school.

Please consider adding these items to your regular

donation: Chef Boyardee all varieties, Lunchables,

mayonnaise, cereal, granola bars, cookies, juice

boxes, snack size apple sauce, snack size puddings

and paper towels

We truly appreciate your continued

support and generosity!

On Saturday, June 2nd at 10:00am, twenty-two young adults from Saint Joseph Parish and two from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish were confirmed by the bishop. We congratulate them and their families on achieving this milestone in their lives. May the Holy Spirit continue to enrich them with the Gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord.

Another Great weekend - Confirmation

Another great, spirit filled weekend here at Saint Joseph Church. This past weekend the bishop of the diocese came and shared with twenty-four of our young men and women (including two from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in S w a r t s w o o d ) t h e S a c r a m e n t o f Confirmation. All of the Confirmandi were well prepared and eager to accept the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Special thanks to Father Kevin Corcoran, the bishop’s Ecclesiastical Secretary and Master of Ceremonies for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Having done what Father did for 15 years of my life, I was truly and genuinely grateful for his presence. To Deacon Tom Zayac, I am always grateful for your presence at the altar and especially at the Confirmation Mass. To our Directors of Faith Formation, Mrs. Linda Gorski and her assistant Mrs. Christine Shell, from Saint Joseph Church and Daniel Salvatore from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. To all our catechists, volunteers, especially Gary Carlson, Ed Samanns and Lisa Onorevole. I am grateful for your dedication and selflessness in helping prepare our young adults for this wonderful sacrament. Special thanks to our music ministry under the direction of Kelly Dachisen, our organist and Director of Music Ministry. To Cate Pasculli our cantor this morning, our altar servers Jacob, Eva, Nathaniel and Sophia, our Reader Jerry, Ushers, Gary, John, Charles and Jerry and our Eucharistic Ministers Sarah, Charles and Christine. Thank you for your presence and service. I would also like to thank all of the parents, Grandparents and Guardians who made the extra effort in bringing your children to Mass each week. I pray that you will continue to return each week with your families as we are enriched by your presence and diminished by your absence.

Please take a moment and remember in your prayers the following students from Saint Joseph

Church (cf the prior page). May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire these youth in their lives as they choose their vocations as we look for them to become more involved in our local church and community. We also pray for their Sponsors, parents, grandparents and friends; may they always support these newly Confirmed by being great models of Jesus’ unconditional love. Unfortunately, The Beacon was not present (as they always are at every other Confirmation celebration); so in their absence, allow us to share with you a few pictures:

Please join me in the following prayer for those who were Confirmed this past week

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire

of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew

the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful,

grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy

His consolations, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Each year, the bishop bestows the Vivere Christus Award on an individual or family

from each parish in the diocese. It acknowledges individuals whose lives reflect the motto “Vivere Christus Est”

(“To live is Christ”). This year, Mrs. Carolyn Kelly will be the recipient of this award. Carolyn is extremely active in our parish community as she heads up the Lazarus Funeral Ministry and Sacristans. She also serves as a Reader, Eucharistic Minister as well as being part of the Wedding and Saturday Cleaner’s Ministries and is a Columbiette. All that Carolyn does for our church and the local community, made it a simple task in choosing her for this august award. Carolyn is always willing to help in whatever needs to be accomplished in our parish as well as other activities outside the parish, sharing her gifts and talents with those who are in need. It is with great pleasure that we congratulate her on receiving this esteemed award for her service to our parish and the community of Newton.
