When John the Baptist heard in prison of the works of the Christ,
he sent his disciples to Jesus with this question,
“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.
And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”
As they were going off,
Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John,
“What did you go out to the desert to see?
A reed swayed by the wind?
Then what did you go out to see?
Someone dressed in fine clothing?
Those who wear fine clothing are in royal palaces.
Then why did you go out? To see a prophet?
Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
This is the one about whom it is written:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare your way before you.
Amen, I say to you, among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist;
yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Mt 11:2-11

Our Diocesan Pastoral Priorities: In the coming weeks, we will pray about reconciliation, with the example of saints and inspiring ancestors, as they lived fully the faith. “Reconciliation with God leads … to other reconciliations, which repair the other breaches caused by sin. The forgiven penitent is reconciled with himself in his inmost being, where he regains his innermost truth. He is reconciled with his brethren whom he has in some way offended and wounded. He is reconciled with the Church. He is recon-ciled with all creation. Christian prayer extends to the forgiveness of ene-mies, transfiguring the disciple by configuring him to his Master. Forgiveness is a highpoint of Christian prayer; only hearts attuned to God's compassion can receive the gift of prayer. Forgiveness also bears witness that, in our world, love is stronger than sin. The martyrs of yesterday and today bear this witness to Jesus. Forgiveness is the fundamental condition of the reconciliation of the children of God with their Father and of men with
one another. (Catechism of Catholic Church paragraph 1469-1470)”
Monday 12 December, is the Feast of Our
Lady of Guadalupe
A Day of Prayer for Migrants and Refugees. St. John Paul II wrote: "Like the disciples of Emmaus, believers, supported by the living presence of the risen Christ, become in turn the traveling companions of their brothers and sis-ters in trouble, offering them the word which rekindles hope in their hearts. With them they break the bread of friendship, brotherhood and mutual help. This is how to build the civilization of love. This is how to proclaim the hoped-for coming of the new heavens
and the new earth to which we are heading."
For Protection of the Life of those in the womb. When Mary first ap-peared, as a pregnant mesitzo (of Aztec and Spanish heritage) to St. Juan Diego in 1531, the local people had known Christian leaders for only a short time. Human sacrifice, where blood of infants was often spilled in ritual sacrifice to demons of the old rite, was still practiced in fear. Into this cavern of darkness and ignorance, our Lady of Guadalupe brought a message of maternal compassion. “I am the merciful Mother, the Mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me, of those who cry to me, of those who seek me, of those who have confidence in me. Here I will hear their weeping, their sorrow, and will remedy and alleviate their suffering, necessities, and misfortunes.” No more did the people need to fear their imagined bloodthirsty gods who demanded the death of their children. They found refuge beneath the gracious protection of
a gentle Mother.
Thank-you to everyone who braved the cold and came out to
help me celebrate my 60th birthday and for all the kind words
and gifts! Father Ron

The quilts truly add to the atmosphere of the retreat center and are an integral part of our guest experience. As we reach the completion of our 5th year of operation, a few of the quilts are showing some wear and tear. If you’re interested helping us replenish our supply and or repair quilts that have been worn, please contact us at 605-716-0925 or email [email protected].
