Second Reading — Owe nothing to anyone, except mutual love (Romans 13:8-10).

A MESSAGE OF LOVE

In the final verses of today’s Gospel reading Jesus says that when two or three are gathered in his name, “there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). So we understand that fraternal correction is always undertaken with Jesus present to us.

Likewise, encouraging the good in others is not only the right thing for us to do, it is a necessity. The Lord tells the prophet Ezekiel that if he “does not speak out” to dissuade a person from evil, then he too will be held responsible.

We live in a “do your own thing” age when moral objectivity is often ignored. Clearly when the message we share with others is one of love, our motives cannot ever be misinterpreted. As St. Paul writes, “Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law” (Romans 13:10).

St. Benedict Catholic School

Hi Everyone FundRays coupon book sales will kick-off on Monday, August (tomorrow) and go through September 11th for students to earn prizes. This is the big fundraiser that SBCS does twice a year and our school earns 50% of each $15 coupon book. There is also a Taste of Tropics coupon book for $20 that includes more up-scale restaurants. We have the coupon books in the office if you want to look through the master index. The Baldwin County coupon covers Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Foley, Robertsdale, Summerdale, Loxley, Fairhope, Daphne, Spanish Fort, Malbis, Bay Minette, etc. This is a win-win fundraiser for everyone. The cost of the coupon book practically pays for itself after one restaurant use. I personally buy several books each time to use personally and to give as gifts. SBCS earns money and coupon purchasers get a discount too! Thank you for supporting the Fund Rays fundraiser. Dr. McCool
