12 NOON 5:00 PM Weekdays: Monday through Saturday: 9:00 AM Holy Day: See Schedule in Bulletin
COMMUNION TO THE SICK is taken by Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist on a regular basis to those confined to their homes. Please call the Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 1:30 PM (not during Lent). A family must be registered in the parish, attend the baptismal preparation class, and cooperate with the regulations established by the parish. Our baptismal class is held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8:00 PM. Please call the Parish Center to register any time during your pregnancy.
THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is celebrated on Saturday between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Chapel or by appointment.
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION is celebrated once a year, here at St. Augustine. A candidate must successfully complete our Religious Education program. Adult Confirmation is held on Pentecost Sunday and any interested adults should contact the Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK is administered at home to any Catholic who is seriously ill. Please call the Parish Center. Any parishioner admitted to a local hospital should contact the Catholic Hospital Chaplain through the hospital. A family member should contact the parish when someone is admitted to the hospital. We will gladly pray for any members who are sick, whether at home or in the hospital, at our Sunday Masses;
THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY is celebrated by the Pastor or one of our deacons. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Only a ceremony is permitted on Sunday. The pastor will confirm the date so couples should contact the Parish Center at least ONE YEAR in advance. All the necessary information will be sent to you. The attendance at Pre-Cana or an Engaged Encounter Weekend is required. One must be a registered member of the parish. Our parish upholds the Gospel values and the Church’s teachings regarding the sacredness of marriage and those couples choosing to live together in contradiction of those values, will receive a simple ceremony and all Diocesan regulations followed.
THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS and RELIGIOUS LIFE: If you are considering serving God as a priest, deacon, or religious, you may contact your parish priest, deacon, or religious; or phone the Diocesan Office of Vocations at (732) 562-1990.

Lighting Hearts on Fire
The Diocesan Year of Spiritual Renewal 2018-2019
“No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve
God and mammon (wealth).” (Luke 16:13)
I money a “god” that you put before God? Giving money to support the Church and other charity is a pillar of our faith, just like attending Mass every Sunday and participating in parish ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money. It increases our dependence on God and our trust that God will provide all that we need.
September 15th collection will be reported in next week’s bulletin.

MEDITATION FOR SEPTEMBER 22, 2019 Jesus instructs us to serve only one master. Many things compete for our attention on a daily basis. Some of the things we do, we do in light of our faith and in the service of God; other things may draw us away from both. Jesus exhorts us to pay attention to our actions and our motives, for we cannot serve both God and the things of this world. From the prophet Amos comes a warning to the people of the Northern Kingdom of
Israel that God sees those who take advantage of or mistreat the poor and needy, and He will not forget a thing they have done. In Paul’s Letter to Timothy, he asks for prayers for those in authority-that they be pleasing to the Lord. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the dishonest steward, and says that a person must be trustworthy in matters big and small. For no one can serve both God and mammon.
INTENTIONS OF OUR HOLY FATHER We are invited to unite with our Holy Father, Pope Francis, for this universal intention during the month of September.
The Protection of the Oceans. That politicians, scientists, and economists work together to protect the world’s seas and oceans.

Letter from Your Spiritually Adopted Child Dear Special Friend, Thank you so much for the name you have chosen for me and for praying for my wellbeing, Amazing things have been happening! At 17 days old, I developed my own blood cells and at only 18 days old, my
tiny heart muscle began to pulse. My heart is only about the size of a poppy seed and it is already beating! Wondrous! At 19 days old, my eyes started to develop…at 28 days old, 40 pairs of muscles are developing. At 30 days old, regular blood flow began. I am a miracle! By the end of September, I will be about two months old…and my parents will be able to hear my heartbeat with an ultrasound stethoscope. It beats at about 150 beats per minute and it sounds like water rushing! At only 43 days old electrical brain patterns are present. At 49 days old…7 weeks…I will begin to look like a tiny doll with fingers, toes and even ears. All of my organs are functioning…even my skeleton is complete! At 56 days olds…2 months… my name changed from” “Embryo to “Fetus” which means “Little One”. I love my new name! And something else amazing has happened…I can now suck my thumb! Thank you so much for thinking about me and asking God the Father to keep me safe. With love from your “Little One”, Robert, Sharon Elizabeth, Anastasia, Jessie, Alexander, Cassie, Albert, John Paul, AnnaMae & James, Betty, Alexandria, Louis, Margaret, Katherine Alice, Zoe & Sebastian, David, Keira Lyn, Brandon, Autumn Marie, Peter, Ciara Nicole, Mary Ann, Suzie, Mary, John, Isabella, Claire Ann & Nicolas, Abigail, Philip, Eve, Christopher, and Mark
Our Youth Ministry is Expanding… to NeXt Level! As you heard at our Masses this weekend, our young church is thriving and active in our parish! We have begun our new program called P.E.A.C.E. of Mind as a result of being chosen for NeXt Level.
NeXt Level is a pilot program of the Center for Faith Justice funded by the Lilly Endowment, which offers and is researching a new approach to youth ministry designed to strengthen Catholic parishes. This model is one that supports youth in creating and implementing a passion project designed to engage members of our parish across generations.
To support our youth’s implementation of this project we are collecting data through a parish wide survey. We’ve made it simple and fast for you to complete! Your honest opinion matters to us, and we need your support to make this groundbreaking work a success so please consider filling out this survey at your earliest convenience. The survey can be found at this link: http://bit.ly/nextlevelparish

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CATHOLIC?
Or perhaps you are a baptized Catholic who never completed the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Eucharist). The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is just
for you! Gather with others who desire to know the Lord Jesus Christ in the truth of the Catholic Faith, as we un-dergo catechesis, reflect on the scriptures, and contem-plate our call to faith in Christ in preparation for Baptism and/or reception and completion of the Sacraments of Initiation. Meetings are held on Sundays at 8:00 am in Father McGivney Hall (followed by 10:00 am Mass). If you are interested in getting connected, please call the Parish Center at 732-297-3000. Deacon Denis
