We brought with us the parish's traveling statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. During our visit we talked about the history of the Rosary and why the Church recommends us to pray it. We asked the parishioner what she would like us to offer our Rosary for and then prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries together. The visit was the beginning of many. We are visiting homes with the statue to pray the Rosary in order to reach out to parishioners and to teach a basic Catholic prayer that is a source of great grace. We are attempting to encourage the families of the parish to pray at home together for their needs, the needs of the sick and homebound and for the entire parish of St. Ann. Prayer needs to be a daily part of our lives. We should pray not only at Mass on Sunday, but also daily in our homes. Praying the Rosary, reading Scripture, and sitting quietly in reflection upon the way God is present in our lives are several important ways in which we can become more prayerful people. Last week I wrote about R.C.I.A. in my note to you. We have formed a parish team to work with adults and children seeking to receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation. Currently, we are in need of a parishioner to do catechesis with adults on Sundays. I would invite you to consider helping in this way. Interested parishioners, please speak to Fr. Michael after Mass. If you have not yet signed up for a Rosary visit, the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. If you do not how to pray the Rosary we can teach you and even bring you several rosaries for you and your family to use. Let us pray for you and your needs. We look forward to visiting you and invite you to have your friends and family join us when we visit. In Christ, Fr. Michael

Pope Francis'

10 Secrets to

HAPPINESS 6. Create jobs for your people. We find purpose in our lives through meaningful work; we are encouraged to take that one step further and ensure that young people have what Pope Francis calls "dignified jobs." We can start the process early in our own families by assigning to our children household chores that teach them the importance of making a contribution to the family. We can involve preteens and adolescents in volunteer service projects where they can use their God- given gifts and talents. "We need to be creative with young people," the Pope urges "in order to prevent them from slipping into drugs and despair." When we find ways to raise them up we will discover in them and in ourselves a deeper sense of happiness. How can you help young people find dignity and happiness through meaningful work or service?
