From the Pastor’s Desk...
only that we make the choice and effort to participate in the Eucharistic Wedding Feast of the Lamb, but that having been nourished by the Eucharistic Body of Christ, we might be inspired, energized and enabled to be the Mystical Body of Christ in our “neck of the woods”. For instance in how we think and speak and act with regard to the issues in the upcoming election with regard to our brothers and sisters who are: in the womb, elderly, alone; hungry, homeless, or sick; migrants or refugees; at risk from violence and abuse. None of us can do everything, but each of us---fueled by our weekly reception of the Lamb of God---can allow him through us to “take away the sins of the world” both within us and around us. As Leonard Cohen sang, “Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There’s a crack in everything. That’s how the Light gets in.” As the King says twice in today’s Gospel, “Everything is ready”. Will we accept his invitation to the wedding feast of the Lamb?
A TWEAK – This weekend---as an experiment---an appropriately distanced cantor will sing Mass parts and hymns in
our 4:30 PM Vigil Mass and at our 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM Masses. We are NOT resuming congregational singing and we ask that you not join in the singing. The cantor will comply with the 30 foot distance protocol. Let’s see how this goes and please direct your comments to Madelyn Howard at [email protected] or 484-302-5705.
RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP Each baptized person has a responsibility to participate in the Spirit’s ongoing work of healing our broken world and each citizen
has a responsibility to participate in the ongoing process of forming a “more perfect union”. Here are several resources to assist us in the work of forming of consciences for next month’s election are: Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship; 2) a Presidential Candidate Comparison; and 3) a Voter Guide for State Legislative Races. found on our parish homepage https://churchofsaintann.org/
RING A BELL? - Twice in today’s parable of the king’s wedding feast for his son, the phrase “everything is ready” is used to describe the feast. That said, this is the first year that the words “everything is ready” have rung
a bell with a passage from the Book of Revelation that I pray each Sunday during Evening Prayer: “The Wedding Feast of the Lamb has begun and his bride is prepared to welcome him” (Rev. 19:7).
AN OLD JOKE – A young newly ordained priest was officiating at his first wedding Mass and in the sermon which he was reading from a book, he quoted, “Marriage is that state in life in which two become one”. In the back pew of the church sat an elderly couple, who upon
hearing these words, nudged one another and with a wink whispered, “Yeah? Which one?”.
SUGGESTED EDIT - Immediately before receiving Jesus in Holy Communion the priest says, “Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blest are those called to the feast of the Lamb”. I wish that some day this would be reworded to say “Blessed are those called to the wedding feast of the lamb”. This would make it more clear that each Mass is not only a Eucharistic Supper but more specifically a Eucharistic Wedding Supper when in the reception of Jesus in Holy Communion we two (me and Jesus the Lamb) are becoming one in a foretaste of our never ending and ever increasing oneness that will be heaven. Once Jesus rose, ascended and took his seat at righthand of the Father, a quantum leap in reality itself occurred, namely: the Marriage of humanity and divinity, of creature and creator, of heaven and earth has begun. Further, this oneness can never un-begin nor be prevented from coming to its fulfillment.
FOOD AS FUEL - Last Sunday, after Holy Communion, we asked God that having been nourished by the Sacrament we received we might be “transformed into what
we consume”. The point in today’s Gospel parable is not

CONSUMER CULTURE – As we celebrate the Feast St. Ignatius of Antioch this Saturday (10/17), let’s allow ourselves to be challenged by his witness. His consuming Christ’s Word and Body each Sunday gave him the capacity not to be consumed by the hatred of his captors or by the violence of the mob even as he was consumed by wild beasts in the Colosseum of Rome in the year 108. This elderly bishop was tossed as a tidbit to folks’ ravenous appetite to be entertained even (and perhaps especially) at the expense of the suffering of others. Not so unlike ourselves today when through social media and gossip we revel in and gorge upon the “trainwrecks” that our brothers and sisters at times make of their lives.

Please pray for the sick, disabled, homebound members of our Parish Family.
Counting Our Blessings! Your donations help us fulfill our parish mission
and make improvements to our facilities. Thank you for your generosity!
Holy Family School’s principal, Mrs. D’Amelio, is thrilled with her team! Preparing for this school year took herculean effort, and her staff and the faculty rose to the occasion remarkably! Teachers needed to engage in additional trainings for hybrid instruction, rearrange classrooms to meet social distancing requirements, and are willingly sacrificing lunch periods and prep times to ensure the safety of our children. Although many of our classrooms are closed to enrollment, we encourage you to reach out for more information! Call us at 610-933-7562 or email us at [email protected] Be sure to like us on Facebook!
Direct Debit Program to end
December 31, 2020
Thank you for your ongoing support of St Ann Parish through our monthly Direct Debit program. At this time we are asking our parishioners currently using Direct Debit to transition to our new online giving platform via our website: https://churchofsaintann.org/donations.
The secure online giving program hosted by eCatholic provides greater flexibility to our parishioners. You are in control of when your donations occur - any time of the month: one time or recurring. Also, in addition to ACH you may utilize a credit card* for your donations. (*Credit card fees do apply and are absorbed by the parish.)
Details may be found here: https://churchofsaintann.org/donations.
Please contact Lisa in the parish office (610-933-3732 or [email protected]) if you have any questions.
