Members can do both the slalom course and the freestyle course, only pay one registration fee, but must have two race cards each Saturday. You could also do Nordic and alpine but would need two sets of equipment and the ability to hustle from one course to another. The member also chooses his or her ability level: expert, intermediate, or novice (novice not available for freestyle / freeride). Races are on Saturdays. The Race Schedule is in this package. Nodic begins at 10:30 am at the Frontier Point Lodge (Nordic center). Freestyle / freeride begins at 11:30 am on the new 10-acre terrain park just added in Bitteroot Basin and lasts until about 1 pm. All slalom races are off the Bitterroot Chair (#5). High school at 12:30 pm; Junior high at 1:30 pm. Slalom races are open for one hour for each division. You may want to review the course map on the next page to select your ability level before enrolling. Questions? Anja Baird is the team advisor [email protected]. Mr. Donahue is the faculty sponsor. Team meetings will be at lunchtime. It is recommended that all students, especially those enrolled in the freestyle/freeride competition, watch the Terrain Park Smart video on the Bogus Basin website and print the certificate http://www.bogusbasin.org/the-mountain/terrain-parks.aspx

All racers must have race cards to race and all of their equipment to race. Pick up race cards each Thursday before the race from the school. First race: Saturday January 10, 2015 Second race: Saturday January 17, 2015 Third race: Saturday January 24, 2015 Fourth race: Saturday January 31, 2015 Fifth race: Saturday February 7, 2015 Sixth race: Saturday February 14, 2015 Because of the DP accreditation process, the high school team will not participate in the Wednesday races this year since they take academic time from school days. Sophomores and juniors can still participate in the Friday finals as long as they meet the minimum of three Saturday races. Since the junior high finals are on Thursday a determination still has to be made about the academic goals a member must meet to participate and whether participation is an excused absence. More information will be provided at the team meetings. The ski/snowboard team finals are called the “Dotty Clark” but is actually the Dotty Clark Memorial Race. The race program was established in 1960 as a friendly competition between Boise and Borah High students. The schools dedicated the final race to a popular classmate who was killed in a car accident—Dotty Clark. The race program is now sponsored by Bogus Basin and about 1,650 students participate in at least one race each year. These students come from 30 high schools and 40 junior high schools throughout the Treasure Valley.
