1. Driving around Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) truck

“Hazardous material-HAZMAT” can be defined as any material that, because of its quantity, concentration, or physical or chemical characteristics, may pose a real hazard to human health Safety or the environment. Classification of Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)-

In case of emergency with vehicle carrying hazardous material, the hazard information can be obtained from the following-

1) Emergency Information Panel (EIP):

The emergency information panel indicates correct technical name of the substance being

transported, hazard class label, UN number of the substance, HAZCHEM code and telephone

number for emergency advice.

HAZCHEM code – helps the emergency response team to respond according to the hazardous

substance being transported.

2) Transport Emergency (TREM) card

Transport emergency (TREM) cards are carried in the cab of vehicles carrying dangerous

goods in quantities exceeding the exempt quantities.

The purpose is to instruct the driver in the event of an incident. They may also assist

emergency response workers, as they carry information which is specific to the particular

goods being carried. There must be a card for each dangerous goods item in the load.

3) MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)

It provides comprehensive information of material, physical and chemical characteristics, physical hazards, health hazards, routes of chemical entry into the body, permissible exposure limits, precautions necessary for safe use etc.

2. Welding spatters arresting canopy

The need:

High potential of fire incidents due to falling spatters.

Falling spatters may cause burn injury to workers.

Difficulty in fixing fire blanket at odd locations Advantage Canopy:

High fire-resistant blanket of 1000° C is used for canopy. No perforations.

Canopy can be accurately hanged just below the location of hot work. No scattering of

sparks.

Arrested sparks are diverted to pot

having small quantity of water to

quench spatters. No live sparks left

out.

All the necessary safety precautions were ensured during the Demucking of underground portion of U#5 CW tunnel in Trombay during outage.

Annual ISPS CODE COMPLIANCE verification Audit of Port Facility, Trombay Tata Power Coal Jetty was carried out by Capt. S K Nair & Capt Ashish Wankhede, Directorate General of shipping, GOI, Mumbai on 23 Jan 2012.

The REPUBLIC DAY at Trombay was celebrated by security staff on 26 JAN.2012.

A half day Security training session for the quick reaction team and command & control staff of Dharavi was carried out on 04th Feb 2012 at HR conference hall Dharavi.

HYDRO

On 26th Jan 2012, 63rd Republic Day celebrated at Saimal sports complex, Khopoli division. All employees and family attended & celebrated Republic Day. Flag hoisting by Chief guest Mr. PC Kale.

CGPL

Chairman & Deputy Chairman of TATA Group Sh. Ratan Tata & Sh. Cyrus Mistry visited CGPL site with other dignitaries. The VVIP visit was coordinated by the security team from receiving at the Airport and escorting their motorcade from the SEZ to the site, Management and regulation of traffic during the visit of the VVIPs, and escorting the VVIPs back to the Airstrip via West Port.

CGPL Mundra celebrated 63rd Republic Day at, Sh. Sharad Baijal, Chief Guest of the ceremony hoisted the flag and paid homage to the freedom fighters in his address to the CGPL. A Contingent of immaculately dressed men in uniform carried out Ceremonial parade and saluted the National Flag.

Mock drill was conducted on 31st Jan 2012 at 1200 hrs, with a scenario of accident between 02 vehicles (truck & Indica car) at old main gate U-turn to check out emergency preparations of security, safety & fire & medical teams.

The construction of security barrack is in progress. To increase the height of the Boundary wall has started and the work is in progress.

Republic Day was celebrated with full fun fare. The National Flag was unfurled by AGM Mr. Ashok Lodh.

Medical camp was organized by Tata Power at Samudayik Vikas Bhavan, Govindpur. The security officers participated and contributed for the noble cause.

Organized inter department and contractor's Friendship Cricket Tournament in the Plant premises. The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Rakeswar Pandey, President of Tata Power Employees union and Mr. P. L. Manjrekar (GM).

MPL

63rd REPUBLIC DAY – 2012 was celebrated at Maithon Power Limited, Maithon with great zeal and enthusiasm. Project Manager Mr. S.S.Bhattacharya unfurled the National Flag at Site office at 0930 hrs with the Rashtriya salute presented by the armed contingent of MPL Security. 03 Platoon were on parade including fire wing.

Reward & Recognition - 16 Security & Fire personnel were awarded with an attractive Gift for their outstanding performance and property recovery by PM, Ops Head, Dy. PM & Head/civil.

Voluntary BLOOD DONATION CAMP was organized on 63rd Republic Day at MPL site in co ordination with Patliputra Medical College & Hospital, Dhanbad. . Sh. Anurag Pratap received the trophy on behalf of MPL from Deputy Commissioner / Dhanbad in a function held at Red Cross building, Dhanbad on 26-01-12.

MPL Security team participated in 04 local tournaments at Maithon, Mangurdih and other surrounding villages. Team participated in 02 Volley ball and 02 Cricket tournaments during the month.

Training on Advanced Industrial Security was conducted at site by MPL Security & Fire team for security personnel for 66 man-days during the month. On completion, assessment test was conducted and 1st & 2nd in test were awarded. Safety training to 22 security personnel was conducted in Jan.12.

MPL security team covered 02 VIP visit at MPL site during Jan.12. On 18-01-12 Sh. Vinod Singh, MLA cum Chairman / Panchayati Raj Samiti, Jharkhand and on 27-01-12 DVC Chairman Shri Sen visited the MPL site.

2nd Batch for Advance Fire Fighting training was organized at MPL from 2nd Feb to 4th Feb 2012 for Security personnel. All the relevant subjects including Hydrogen Plant, MoT Hazards, Physical fitness, Fire Drill, Familiarization to switch yard & Fire system installed at switch yard, Hose drill were covered.
