Think Gunnebo when selecting lifting chain and com-ponents. Lifting is our business. Gunnebo has becomeknown for quality, down to the smallest component, asa result of over 200 years experience, combined withsystematic quality control and our own research anddevelopment laboratories.
Chain and components are made from quenchedand tempered alloy steel. Aguarantee for very highstrength, low weight, high wear resistance and long life. All Gunnebo G8 components are uniformly marked withequivalent chain size, grade and manufacturer's design-nation for positive indentification
Gunnebo - your partner in safe lifting
Safety put to the testGunnebo Grade 8
All chain and every single component is proof-loadedto a level that corresponds to 62% of the minimumbreaking load. individual inspection before deliveryfrom our factories ensures a high and even quality.
Chain and components are tested to destructionon a random sample basis from every productionbatch. Minimum breaking force = maximum workingload limit x the safety factor. Full test data is documen-ted. The prescribed elongation for chain grade 8 is mini-mum 20%
Additionally, finished products are subjected totesting to ensure the correct hardness levels. Cyclicalloading tests are carried out to simulate the fatigueeffects that would be expected over many years of use.
Chain and components carry identification marksfor full traceability right back to the steel supplier forraw material analysis.
We put safety to the test
Gunnebo G8 is more than just another chain sling sys-tem. It is a total lifting concept in high grade alloy steelfor heavy lifting.
The chain and components in the G8 and SKranges are designed to give more flexibility, moreoptions to meet almost any lifting problem involivingsings - whether chain, steel wire rope or soft slings. When introduced around 30 year ago, the BKSafety Hook dramatically increased industrial safety onsites all over the word.
The new generation safety hook - OBK/GBK-provide a more compact version of the well- known BK-hook. The grip latch modification gives better side sta-bility and the hook now has improved riveting. Onceagain, Gunnebo innovation leads the way.
Gunnebo gives you more options
Our BK/OBK/GBK Safety Hooks fulfil two importantrequirements. One is that the load stays put in thehook. The latch closes automatically as soon as thehook is loaded. It cannot be opened under load acci-dentally. The release trigger will only operate when theload is safety grounded.
The other is that the hook will not easily snagduring lifting because of its smooth profile.
Our Safety Hooks are designed for work. It is easyto operate the release trigger even with working gloveson. It stays open so that both hands are free to load thehook.
Our Safety Hooks are available for Working LoadLimitis 1.25 to 25 tonnes.

We work closely with our steel suppliers to ensure thatthe raw material meets our stringent specification.
We also work closely with our world markets andhave offical approval by the main national and inter-national authorities including MOD, NATO, BG andmany others.
All Gunnebo G8 Grade 'T' (8) chain is manufacturedand tested to the requirments of ISO 1834 & 3076,1984 and EN 818-1,& 2.All components match therelevant. EN -and ISO-standards.
Our Ramnas Factory is approved by Lloyd's (LRQA)for quality assurance to ISO 9001. This approval alsocombines BS 5750 part 1 and the new Europeanstandard EN 29001. Our quality management covers allaspects of production from raw material to deliveredproduct. LRQA approval for our system includes design, development, manufacture, marketing and distributionof lifting chains and associated components.

Connection with G - coupling linkThe Gunnebo G-coupling link is a universal fitting.
It can be used on chain master links, hooks and otherlifting components.
The G-coupling link is simply assembled and canbe disconnected if required. Taking just a few seconds, the only tools needed are a hammer and a punch. TheG-copling link, like all G8 components, is made from
quenched and tempered alloy steel for high tensilestrength and wear resistance.
The G-coupling. link has a smooth profile to helpavoid snagging. The retaining bush has a stainlesssteel square section spring for increased safety andlonger working life. Gunnebo G-coupling links are avai-lable for Working Load Limits 1.1 to 32 tonnes.
Master Link,typeM/MF/O/OFFor connection tochain with G-couplinglinks. For single ordouble-leg slings.
Master Link,typeMT/MTC/OT/OTFFor connection tochain with G-couplinglinks. For 3-leg or4-leg slings.

Connection with BerglokThe Berglok chain coupler is fool-proof. The opening
and the load pin will accept only the correct chain andthe flattened section of corresponding hooks and mas-ter links. Thus, mismatching is avoided.
The Berglok consists of a drop forged shacklebody. It is connected to the end link of the chain with aload pin, secured by two retaining pins. The ends of thecomponent are rounded and the retaining pins do not
protrude. This design reduces the possibility of acci-dential snagging. The Berglok chain coupler eliminatesharmful side loading of the chain when used with eyehooks. It can be used for connecting chain to hooks, choker hooks, masterlinks, shackles and wire ropes, aswell as chain to chain.
The Berglok is available for Working Load Limits1.1 to 11.5 tonnes.
Master Link, type MF/OFFor connection tochain with Berglok. For single or double-leg slings.

A range specialized Grade 8 alloy steel componentsfor safe and easy assembly to chain, steel wire rope, webbing and roundslings and designed to solve yourbelow-the-hook problems. The SK System provides:
Universal coupling of components to chain, wire andsynthetic slings.Quick and simple assembly - only a hammer nee-ded.
Foolproof assembly - standardized dimensionswithin each size range effectively eliminates the
wrong assembly of compoents with different safeworking loads.Heavy hoisting with strong yet lightweight equipment- all components are manufactured from alloy steelfor use with Grade 8 chain.Individual components are proof-load tested to 62%of min. breaking load.
Official approval by the main national and internation-nal authorities, including MOD, NATO, BG and manyothers.Patented protection for much of the range.

The systematic quality control in every manufacturingstage from raw material to finished productguarantees a high level of safety and long life.
Testing and quality controlGeneral
Type testingIn order to prove the design, material heat treatmentand method of manufacture, each size of componentand chain in the finished condition has been typetested in order to demonstrate that the componentsand chain possess the mechainical propertiesaccording to the latest international standards. Thefollowing testing procedures are particularly relevant.
1. Test for deformation. The manufacturing Proof Force (MPF) for the relevantsize of the component is applied and removed. Thedimensions after proof loading shall not alter from theorignal dimensions with the tolerances prescribed inthe international standards.
2. Static tensile testThe Breaking force (BF) for each component and size isverified. The verified value shall be at least equal to theMinimum Breaking Force (MBF) value. The MBF valueis equal to the Working Load Limit (WLL) mulitiplied bythe safety factor.
3. Fatigue testBy fatigue testing in pulsatory testing machiness, thetoughest conditions of service is simulated.
Manufacturing testingDuring manufacturing, continuos manufacturing test iscarried out according to the requirements in the latestinternational standards. The following testingprocedures are particularly relevant.
1. Non destructive test3% of lot of forged components are subject tomagnetic particle or dye pennetrant examination. 100%of the load bearing pins are subject for hardnesstesting.
2. Proof force:Each individual component and chain link is tested tothe manufacturing Proof Force (MPF) level beforedelivery. The MPF level is 2,5 multiplied by the WorkingLoad Limit (WLL) , equal to 62,5 % of the MinimumBreaking Force (MBF).
3. Static tensile test and ultimate elongation test:During manufacture of chain, samples are taken andthe minimum Breaking Force (MBF) value and the totalultimate alongation are verified.
4. Bending deflectionsDuring manufacture of chain, samples are taken andthe minimum bend deflections verified.
Testing of componentsProof force test of components is one example of therigorous quality control procedures in every step of themanufacturing process.
