Stay calm
Turn off/unplug any heat source
Calmly exit the room and building following the evacuation route
Line up with the teacher on the field
Get counted, stay put!

Calmly close any windows, blinds or doors you are close to
Move away from the windows and doors
Stay quiet
Small Fire
Stay calm
Alert the teacher
Smother the fire quicklyPlace a lid/beaker over it
Drop it in the sink and turn the water on
Dump sand on it
Use the fire extinguisher
If the fire cannot be controlled, exit the classroom and pull the fire alarm
Chemical Spill
Stay calm
Alert the teacher
If it is ON you – rinse for 15 minutes
If it is at your station Neutralize the chemical (if needed)
Clean up the spill safely
Dispose as directed
Sweep up any broken glass and dispose
in the broken glass bucket
Chemical Disposal
NEVER put any unused chemicals back into their original containers
Pour chemicals into the labeled waste containers located in the fume hood
NEVER put any chemical in the sink unless specifically told to do so
Pre-Lab or Activity
ALWAYS read the procedure and understand what you are doing
Clear off your workspace
Post-Lab or Activity
Dispose of chemicals properly
Clean and return and equipment
Wash your hands with soap
