Extinguishing MediaSuitable Extinguishing Media: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemical. Water spray mist or
foam.
Product name: ANILINE, REAGENT,ACS
3 / 14Product code: A1295
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Do not use a solid (straight) water stream as it may scatterand spread fire.
Specific hazards arising from the chemical
Hazardous Combustion Products: Carbon Oxides; Nitrogen Oxides
Specific hazards: Combustible materialMay be ignited by heat, sparks or flamesContainers may explode when heatedIgnites on contact with sodium peroxide + water.Aniline ignites spontaneously in presence of red fuming nitricacid.Sodium peroxide or potassium peroxide is spontaneoulyflammable with aniline. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes.Spontaneously explosive reactions occur withbenzenediazonium -2-carboxylate, dibenzoyl peroxide, fluorine nitrate, nitrosyl perchlorate, red fuming nitric acid, peroxodisulfuric acid, and tetranitromethane.Addition of a drop of aniline to 1 gram of dibenzoyl peroxideleads to mildly explosive decompostion after a short delay.Addition of aniline to nitromethane renders it susceptible toinitiation by a detonator.Anililne reacts with perchloric acid, and then formaldehyde toproduce explosive and combustible condensed resin
Special Protective Actions for Firefighters
Specific Methods: Water mist may be used to cool closed containers. Forlarger fires, use water spray or fog. Cool containers withflooding quantities of water until well after fire is out. Dikefire-control water for later disposal; do not scatter thematerial.
Special Protective Equipment for Firefighters: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatuspressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent)and full protective gear

SMALL FIRE: Use DRY chemical powder.LARGE FIRE: Use water spray, fog or foam. Do not use water jet.
Flammable in presence of open flames and sparks, of heat.Non-flammable in presence of shocks.
Ignites on contact with sodium peroxide + water.Aniline ignites spontaneously in presence of red fuming nitric acid.Sodium peroxide or potassium peroxide is spontaneouly flammable with aniline. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes.
Risks of explosion of the product in presence of mechanical impact: Not available.Risks of explosion of the product in presence of static discharge: Not available.
Spontaneously explosive reactions occur with benzenediazonium -2-carboxylate, dibenzoyl peroxide, fluorinenitrate, nitrosyl perchlorate, red fuming nitric acid, peroxodisulfuric acid, and tetranitromethane.Addition of a drop of aniline to 1 gram of dibenzoyl peroxide leads to mildly explosive decompostion after a shortdelay.Addition of aniline to nitromethane renders it susceptible to initiation by a detonator.Anililne reacts with perchloric acid, and then formaldehyde to produce explosive and combustible condensedresin.
