What is SafeHomes?

• An opportunity for parents to join together to help provide a safe environment for their children.

• A public agreement between parents to follow some simple principles that will encourage a safe, healthy lifestyle for young people

What does SafeHomes require of Parents?

• NO meetings, NO time commitment, NO extra effort!

• Read and explain the SafeHomes Pledge to your children

• Live up to the requirements of the pledge

What are the goals of SafeHomes?1. To provide a safe social environment for teens in

our own homes.

2. To send a clear message to teens that we care enough for their safety to risk their displeasure to try to protect them.

3. To inform other parents that if their children visit our home, they will be supervised and that ATOD use will not the tolerated.

What does SafeHomes offer school counselors?

• Potential increase in parent involvement

• This initiative is an identified strategy to address a data supported issue among our youth.  

• NO extra work on your part, WCSAC will do the work with your support

Free Communities Program)

1. Age of onset of any drug use

2. Frequency of use in the past 30 days

3. Perception of risk or harm

4. Perception of disapproval of use by parents
