TIMBERTOWN
Year 1 had a terrific time at Timbertown on Monday. The students learnt an abundance of knowledge about
life in the past, which correlated with the history unit, 'Past and Present Family Life.' Some of the highlights
included blacksmith demonstrations, panning for gold and steam train rides. Thank you to Mr Kelly, Miss
Dungay, Mrs Johnson & Mrs Kelly for great day out!

SPORTS UPDATE
PSSA Basketball …
Hastings Public School Vs Kempsey South Public School - Round 3 Boys
Hastings put together another dominant display to easily win their 3rd round
match. From the opening tip off it became apparent the class and
experience \ the Hastings boys possess as they quickly jumped out to 22 -
0 lead. It was a great opportunity for some of the boys only playing their first
or second competitive game to get some training in a game situation as
Hastings continued to pile on the points. All boys played exceptionally well
as a cohesive team unit which is very pleasing to see as we progress further
into the competition. The final score was 80 - 11. Our next match will be
against the winner of Tacking Point Public School and Wauchope Public
School.
COFFEE CUPS … Make a difference to the world we live in by saying no to single use
takeaway coffee cups and purchasing one of our Hastings Public School reusable
coffee cups. Glass cups are for sale for $30 and plastic cups for $10 and can be
purchased from the front office. All proceeds from the sale of these cups will go
towards further environmental initiatives at our school.
KILOMETRE CLUB 2021
Kilometre Club has wrapped up for Term 2. The wet weather tried to stop us, but the Hastings Public School
resilience shone through. It was great to see so many students out on the track running and walking each
day. The smiles on the faces of those students were priceless.
Over the seven weeks the program ran, we covered an amazing 8462 kilometres. We ran south from Port
Macquarie along the coastline of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia until we
finally stopped at Fitzroy Crossing. 171 students completed 20 kilometres, 89 students ran marathons, 36
students completed 60 kilometres, 16 students ran double marathons, 13 students ran 100 kilometres, 2
students ran 120 kilometres and 1 student ran a triple marathon. A huge congratulations to Nixon Huens
who ran the most kilometres this term with a whopping 133 kilometres!
Another pleasing aspect of Kilometre Club was the connections being made between students while they
ran and walked the track. Many students walked and talked with friends while other students established
new friendships. If someone fell down, there was always another student willing to help them up. If someone
needed help, the students knew what to do and who to see. The comradery that was established over those
few short weeks was exceptional. It was just so refreshing watching kids just being kids!
A massive thank you to the parent helpers that came along each morning to click the cards and mark down
the kilometres completed. Your help was invaluable and without you our Kilometre Club couldn’t run (excuse
the pun)! If there are any parent volunteers that would like to help next term, we would love to hear from
you as many hands make light work!
Kilometre Club will start up again next term in Week 2. We are excited to say that after a term of practise on
the track that our Kindy students are welcome to join in the fun! We can’t wait to see everyone at Kilometre
Club next term!
