3. Increasing Safety and Connection through Daily Appreciations:

• There is a gift you can

give your partner every

day.

• It doesn’t cost a dime!

• Sharing appreciations

makes both of you feel

GREAT!

Now  I  can  express  my  feelings

positively!

1. Learning the three-part Dialogue Process:

• Take turns talking.

• If you’re not the one talking… you should be

LISTENING!

• In the Dialogue Process:

Ø First ask: “Is now a good time to talk?”

Ø Mirror what your partner said.

Ø Validate how you imagine they must feel.

Ø Empathize with their feelings.

Negativity  feels  HORRIBLE!

And  the  Dialogue  Process  is  easy.

Take  turns  talking…  So  simple!

Having a healthy partnership takes practice. It’s not about being with the “right” person; it’s about learning relationship skills so that every couple can build the relationship of their dreams. The Safe Conversations™ workshop teaches easy to learn “skills” that move any couple from conflict to connection. Part lecture, part demos (with volunteer couples), and part couples working alone, the workshop teaches four main points:

2. Taking the Zero Negativity Pledge:

• Relationships need safety to thrive.

• Negativity destroys safety.

• It’s not about what you say.

It’s about how you say it .

Gosh,  I  never  really  thanked  you  for  this….

You’re  welcome!

Wow!  That  feels  great!

SNAP!  Our  Crocodiles  were  running  the  show!

4. Bringing your Brain online:

• Your brain can help you have Safe

Conversations™ and a GREAT relationship!

• There are two main facets to the brain:

Ø The lower brain is the crocodile. It can react with anger and fear. The crocodile is about

our fight or flight instincts.

Ø The higher brain is the wise owl. It can

respond with problem-solving and win-wins.

• When talking with your partner, respond from

the wise owl instead of reacting from the

crocodile.

• You can train your brain! The Dialogue Process

brings the owl on-line.

Research  shows  that  healthy  communication  at  home  helps  kids

perform  better  in  school.

And  our  home  is  so  much  happier  too!
