Intelligent building assistants serve everyone Buildings are becoming increasingly intelligent: they recog-nize our needs because they collect data about our activi-ties and the building. But what exactly is stored? Who can access and process the data? And can we feel safe?

The answers to these questions come from Safe Building Intelligence. We are investigating the concrete effects of digitization – in terms of data security or the simple opera-tion of increasingly intelligent devices. This gives us access to all the advantages of pioneering technologies, without worrying about security or the use of our data.

The latest technologies assist Topics such as digitization and interaction with intelligent systems have been on our agenda for over 15 years: We work with the latest technologies around the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and cyber security. The biggest challenge is to collect relevant data and use it in such a way that the behavior of the system adapts to our needs.

We explore,

• The concrete advantages of intelligent systems.

• How to interact with increasingly intelligent systems.

• How to build this intelligence and ensure that it adapts to us in a meaningful way.

• What information is collected and how it is used to learn about our behavior and preferences.

There is no doubt that smart buildings and environments will soon determine our lifestyles and bring more well-being and safety – also thanks to our research.

Dr. Andrew Paice, Head of iHomeLab: «Wouldn‘t it be fascinating to live in intelligent, interactive buildings that offer security and quality of life? This is exactly what our team is working on.»
