November 13—Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini

Frances Xavier Cabrini MSC, also called

Mother Cabrini, was an Italian-American

religious sister, who founded the Mission-

ary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a

Catholic religious institute that was a major

support to the Italian immigrants to the

United States. She was the first naturalized

citizen of the United States to be canonized

by the Roman Catholic Church, on July 7,

1946.

Sacred Heart Outreach to Needy

"Vincentians" ) are men and women of all ages, who

strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-

person service to individuals in need. It is this per-

sonalized involvement that makes the work of the

Society unique.

poor find forgiveness and healing in their life" by

November 15—Saint Albert the Great

Albertus Magnus, O.P., also known as

Saint Albert the Great and Albert of Co-

logne, was a German Catholic Dominican

friar and bishop. Later canonised as a

Catholic saint, he was known during his

lifetime as Doctor universalis and Doctor

expertus and, late in his life, the sobriquet

Magnus was appended to his name.

Scholars such as James A. Weisheipl and Joachim R. Söder

have referred to him as the greatest German philosopher and

theologian of the Middle Ages. The Catholic Church distin-

guishes him as one of the 36 Doctors of the Church.

discussing Fr. Robert Barron’s DVD series on “The New Evangelization.” This series will continue for the

next month, possibly longer. The New Evangelization explores the Church’s mission within the chal-

tural obstacles the Church faces today, such as the emergence of “the new atheism” and relativistic atti-

Annual Christmas Bazaar

11:00am—5:30pm. Please save the date on your calendar. We are looking for donations of toys,

small appliances, gift basket, and other items for our Raffle tables and White Elephant table. We

also have a few spots open for vendor tables if you or someone you know has handcrafted items to sell.

Cost of the table is $40. If you have an item to donate, please drop it off at the Rectory. We also need

volunteers to help with set up and clean up. If you can help out, please sign up on the sheet at the

back of the Church.

Eucharistic Adoration

After prayer and reflection we have decided to have Eucharistic Adoration and

Benediction every Sunday from 5:00—6:00 p.m.

Protecting God’s Children

All parish and school volunteers who interact with children, even if only occasionally, are required to

attend this one-time presentation VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children”. This presentation which is

mandated by the Archdiocese, helps all of us become aware of the dangers relating to child abuse. This

year the program will be offered on Tuesday, November 13th at 6:00 in the Sacred Heart Hall. If you

are a volunteer who has not yet attended this presentation you must attend. It is necessary that you call

Perpetual Candles at Sacred Heart

As May is the month of Our Lady, we are reminded that our greatest intercessor is Our Lady.

We are blessed to have three sacred spaces with candles at which we can light a candle for our

prayers and special intentions.

These candles can be used for weekly visits, as many of you already do. There is also the pos-

sibility to reserve a candle for a month(s) or a year. Some of the intentions for which a num-

ber of parishioners have reserved candles:

Deceased or living family

Condolence for friends or family

Anniversary of Marriage

Birthday

Automatically with the condolences, we send a letter to notify the grieving family of the candle

lit in our church for their loved one. We can also send a letter when requested for the others.

Visit one of our candle devotional spaces to light a candle. Fill out the form below to re-

serve a candle for a month or year.

Prayer to Saint Michael:

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be

our defense against the wickedness and snares of the

devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do

thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of

God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits

who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Preghiera a San Michele:

San Michele Arcangelo, difendici nella battaglia; sii tu nostro sostegno contro la perfidia e le insidie del diavolo; che Dio eserciti il suo dominio su di lui, te ne preghiamo supplichevoli; e tu, o Principe della milizia celeste, con la potenza divina, ricaccia nell'inferno satana e gli altri spiriti maligni i quali errano nel mondo per perdere le anime. AMEN.

Values that Last a Lifetime!

It’s a real paradox; but, in the spiritual life, the more we give away, the more our spiritual life increases. In today’s first

reading, the widow of Zarephath was willing to sacrifice all she had to keep herself and her son alive, so that Elijah could have something to eat. Because she complied with the Lord’s wishes the Lord performed a miracle for her. She discovered her true worth. The poor widow in the Gospel gave out of her poverty and what she gave was worth more to the Lord than any amount a rich man could give. Her true worth was known to the Lord. She gave from her heart without considering herself. We would do well to follow the example of the widow of Zarephath and the poor widow in the Gospel. It’s not so much the amount we give as the disposition of our heart from where we should give. Giving out of humility rather than pride should give us a sense of being right with God. God sees this and will reward us accordingly.

God bless you all,

Fr. Guy

Attention Lectors, Extraordinary

Ministers and Regular Volunteers

Per regulations of the Archdiocese, all Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

need to fill out a CORI form each year. If you have not yet done so, please fill out form (they are

in the sacristy) and return to Fr. Guy Thank you for your attention to this.
