Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!

It is a blessing to have you join our worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the 10th

Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are spiritually enriched through your prayerful presence and participation. May the Risen Lord nurture our faith as we listen to the words of Sacred Scripture and share our Bread of Life. Since 1928, Sacred Heart Parish has been blessed with a Principal, for our parish school, missioned here by the Sister, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. A long list of IHM Principals have guided our school in providing a Catholic education for children of our parish during the past 85 years. Some say, “they saved the best til last!” when speaking of Sister Irene. I tend to agree with that thought, though I can only speak about the past 13 years. I do know Sister Irene enriched our school community with boundless energy, a firm belief in Catholic education, a teacher’s desire for progress in academics and a sincere love of children. Not a bad recipe for a principalship! These are the ingredients we will celebrate and say “Thank You” to Sister Irene on this Tuesday evening. Join us in Everett Hall (6:30 - 8:30pm) as we express our gratitude and extend best wishes as Sister Irene moves to her new mission at St. Agnes, West Chester. Our Parish School closes out the academic year with the 8th Grade Graduation Liturgy on Wednesday at 7:00pm and a Liturgy on Friday 8:30am for teachers and students. Many thanks to our teachers and school staff for their dedicated service to the children in their care. We are blessed!! Enjoy your summer break! Be well! God bless,

Fr. McKee

Congratulations

to all our

Graduates!

THE FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM, WHICH WE CELEBRATED FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST

YEAR, TAKES PLACE THIS YEAR FROM JUNE 21, THE VIGIL OF THE FEASTS OF ST. JOHN FISHER

AND ST. THOMAS MORE, TO JULY 4, INDEPENDENCE DAY.

In 2013, we still face many challenges to religious

liberty, including the August 1 deadline for religious organizations to comply with the HHS mandate; potential Supreme Court rulings that could redefine marriage in June causing serious religious liberty issues for Catholic adoption agencies and many others; and religious liberty concerns in other areas, such as immigration and humanitarian services. During the Fortnight, our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power- St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome, St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More. Through prayer, fasting and study and peaceful public action during the Fortnight for Freedom, we hope to remind ourselves and others all throughout the United States about the importance of preserving the fundamental right of religious freedom. For more information on what you can do, visit the USCCB website or the Fortnight for Freedom Facebook Page

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore You, I love You, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
