Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!

Thanks for joining the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary

Time. Your presence and prayerful participation enrich our gathering. May the Word of God proclaimed enlighten your faith. May the Bread of Life nourish you and renew your spirit. St. Paul's passage from his letter to the Corinthians today needs to be put in the context of his expectation of the Lord's coming again. The verse that proceeds today's reading begins: "The world in its present form is passing away." Paul, mistakenly, anticipates the "end of times." With the end in mind, Paul would like us "to be free of anxieties." He acknowledges the anxiety that everyone experiences, but points out that a married person takes on additional "things of the world." Those married are anxious about pleasing their spouse. As Paul says he is not imposing any restraint, he just believes, since the world is "passing away," one needs to adhere to the Lord without distraction. If one is to be anxious, let them be anxious about pleasing the Lord. Anxiety coming from the "things of the world" distracts one from the "things of the Lord." Todays' Gospel points out that "the things of the Lord" are to be found in Jesus, his life and words. Why? Jesus teaches with authority! Knowing Jesus teaches with authority, we are to be attentive to Jesus and his teachings, avoiding the distractions of this world. Sacred Heart School has an Open House this Sunday from 12:30pm - 2:00pm. Stop over!! Catch a glimpse of all the educational opportunities provided by our Catholic School. As always, I am grateful for our Principal, Mrs. Celie Magee, and the school staff that enrich our children through their

dedication and caring spirit. Peace be with you! God bless

Fr. McKee

The goal of this lesson is to teach children to recognize “danger” regarding any type of abuse. The lessons are age appropriate and based on our dignity as God’s children. Families will be receiving more information via e-mail. All adults have the responsibility to protect our children from any type of abuse.

SNOW CANCELATION If we need to cancel class because of snow or any type of inclement weather you will receive an e-mail from the Office of Religious Education. If you are not receiving e-mails this would be a good time to update your information for the Parish data system.
