Closed-Loop Geothermal System

• The closed-loop Geothermal system include (8) water-cooled heat pump units, primarily loop water pumps, a 164 vertical well geothermal bore field, and associated piping. This system will work to create jobs, reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and leverage grant funding in a learning environment that can promote these initiatives to future generations.

• ADVANTAGES

• More efficient than the existing central heating and chiller water plant• Places the project in a better position to obtain LEED Gold Certification than more traditional

systems• Excess capacity will be shared with CL-I building• Supports the College’s long standing “green” philosophy• Can be used as a teaching tool for sustainable design
