Eero Saarinen was eager to continue exploring the possibilities of a chair that achieved comfort through the shape of its shell, not the depth of its cushioning.Initially, he began the investigation with designs for smaller fiberglass task chairs,Saarinen started modern furniture movement, The Womb Chair. After completing the Womb Chair, Saarinen returned his focus to task seating, scaling down the concept and form of the womb into arm and armless chairs.SAARINEN EXECUTIVE ARM CHAIR

The Womb Chair and Ottoman (1946) has an enveloping form that continues to be one of the most iconic and recognized representations of mid-century organic modernism. By applying foam molded over a fiberglass shell, Saarinen created a single-piece form that perfectly facilitates a relaxed sitting posture.Saarinen wanted to construct the chair out of a single piece of material, and achieved this by experimenting with new materials and techniques drawn from the shipbuilding industry. The final resulta padded and upholstered fiberglass shell that sits on a polished chrome steel framecombined simplicity of shape with true comfort and flexibility. Why not take the bull by the horns and do the big one first? I want a chair that is like a basket full of pillowssomething I can curl up in.This suggestion by Florence Knoll inspired one of the most iconic furniture movements.SAARINEN WOMB CHAIR

The characteristic feature of the series is that the supporting structure has been pared to a central supporting stem like a wineglass in order to emphasize the uniformity of table and chair. The chair has the smooth lines ofmodernismand was experimental with materials for its time. The chair is considered a classic ofindustrial design.
Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen designed the Organic Chair in several versions for a variety of different sitting positions. The Organic Highback has an elongated backrest with a moulded neck support, making it a comfortable armchair for lounging or reading. The dimensions of the armrests and seat surface, which are wider and longer than the Organic Chair, also augment the seating comfort of the highback version. For the competition "Organic Design in Home Furnishings", Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen designed the Organic Chair in several versions; including the Organic Highback.Reading chairLaminated seat-shellPolyurethane upholsteryStained black ash legs.Elongated backrest with moulded neck supportWider and longer armrests and seat surface than Organic ChairHopsak: 100% Polyamide
