By virtue of Republic Act No. 7901, Caraga Region was created in 1995 under Pres. Fidel V. Ramos. Butuan City was recognized as the regional capital of Caraga Region. The bustling city of Butuan is now an investment hub in Mindanao with so many things to offer from foreign and local inves- tors. The emerging economy of Butuan City is a manifestation of the presence of different opportunities making our place conducive for busi- ness and industry. Our place can accommodate big national conferences since we do have big hotels and conference hall to offer. Our city is also very accessible since it connects to our neigh- boring cities of Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, and Surigao City. One of the biggest symbols of Butuan is the construction of the new Dios- dado Macapagal Bridge, named after the father of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. This bridge serves as a symbol of Butuan’s great- ness and rich history that extends in the mighty Agusan River. Moreover, Butuan City is the center of education in the entire Caraga Region. Our famous university which is century old is Father Saturnino Urios University. The quality of education is also being improved by one of the biggest public high schools in Caraga – the Agusan National High School. Educational institutions in Butuan City are being chosen by our neighboring places a choice school to study. Butuan City will always be remembered for its greatness because of its rich history.
