Child Protection and Creating Safe Environments Diocesan

Child Protection Policies: The Diocese of Erie, along with all dioceses of the United States,

has policies and procedures in place to address the national

problem of child abuse and to aid in creating safe environments.

The diocese is committed to on-going screening and training of

paid or volunteer persons who have regular contact with our

children and youth under the age of 18. It is also committed to the

yearly inservicing and training of our children, youth and parents

regarding touching-safety and safe environments. To see what the

Diocese of Erie is doing to help create safe environments,

check out http://www.eriercd.org/protectyouth.htm

The Saint George Parish Mission Statement We, the Catholic Christians of Saint George Parish, in

union with the Church throughout the world, commit

ourselves to the love of God and our neighbor. Our parish

exists to make Jesus, the Son of God, present in our lives

through the Sacraments, prayer and community. We

recommit ourselves each day to more deeply understand

and live our faith, support each other, and to be a beacon of

hope in our darkened world. We entrust ourselves, our

families, and our community to Jesus Christ who is the

same yesterday, today, and forever.

Ask yourself: are you perpetuating the

mission of Saint George Parish?

of each month and offer this mass for those who are currently

ministering to us as priests, deacons, consecrated women and for

those men and women who are discerning such vocations. We

need new parishioners to join us in this important ministry. Call

Jim Toohey at (814) 864-2145 with your name(s) and the day of

the month you will attend mass. God will bless you. To ask God

to nurture and sustain those he has called to service say this

prayer:

O God, who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather

that he be converted and live, grant we beseech you, through the

intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, Saint Joseph, her

spouse, Saint Junipero Serra , and all the saints, an increase of

laborers for your Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend

and consume themselves for souls, through the same Jesus Christ,

Your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, In the Unity of the Holy

Spirit, God forever, and ever. Amen

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE: FOR THANKSGIVING

Our actions as parents in feeding the hungry, welcoming

strangers or estranged relatives into our homes teach our children

moral lessons of life. We clothe our sick or imprisoned neighbors

by caring for them and visiting them.

The beatitudes are the perfect playbook for Jesus’ expectations of

families. Our routine actions make Christ present in all we do.
