Instructions for installation For S90 cable penetration seals using the „ZZ-Brandschutzmasse BDS-N (1K)“ single-component mastic, type approval No. Z-19.15-1642 issued by the German approval authority Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik shall govern. Please note the EC safety data sheets for this product. General information z Clean the inner surface of the member opening before installation. z The first holder for cable support systems must be provided at a distance not greater than 120 mm from the penetration seal surface. z Hold the cartridge upright, cut off the tip with a sharp knife, and screw dosing tip in place. z Cut off dosing tip as required. z Place the cartridge into a cartridge dispenser for 310-ml cartridges. z In walls, completely fill the cartridge material into the opening from back to front. z In fireproof floors, fill the material into the opening from bottom to top. For relatively large openings, the underside of the floor should be provided with some formwork (to be removed again after completion of the penetration seal). z Fill the opening down to a depth of 100 mm, making sure that all voids and intersti- ces are adequately sealed. z The finished penetration seal has to be permanently marked with an identifi- cation plate, which must be provided next to the seal and be fixed on the structural member. Alternatively, the „ZZ-DokuStreifen“ documentation strip may be used (see system components). Special requirements for installation in lightweight partitionsz In lightweight partitions, the one-component foam tube (made from „ZZ-Brand-

schutzschaum BDS-N“ foam) has to be fitted first.

Special requirements for installation in fireproof walls and floors of inadequate thicknessz No additional measures need to be taken.

Useful hints:z „ZZ-Brandschutzmasse BDS-N (1K)“ mastic is an approved system component for

various „ZZ“ fire protection systems.

z According to the German MLAR guildelines for cable and piping installations, this product can be used as intumescent material to close penetrations for individual cable lines (for details, see system components).

z The dosing tip can be cut off as required to facilitate extrusion.

z Once cable interstices, gaps and open joints have been filled with „ZZ-Brand-schutzmasse BDS-N (1K)“ single-component mastic, the mastic can be smoothed with a paintbrush moistened with water.

z All „ZZ“ fire protection systems can be coated with standard emulsion paint.

z When „ZZ“ systems are used together with the „ZZ-DokuStreifen“ documentation strip it is now for the first time possible to have penetration seals as fire barriers documented in a legally binding manner (see identification and documentation).
