GROUP LOCKOUT HOW YOU NEED IT

Master Lock understands that in order to make work environments safer, you need products that will meet the unique needs of your lockout program. The modular design of the S3500 Series offers endless options for placement and use. Take a build-your-own approach to group lockout.

The S3500 Permit Control Station includes the S3501 Permit Display Case and the S3502 Wall Mount Group Lock Box. When used within various settings throughout a facility, the S3500 Series can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of group lockout while communicating the details and status of permit-to-work jobs.

GROUP LOCKOUT WHERE YOU NEED IT

AT THE POINT OF LOCKOUT

When placed near production equipment, or in parts of the facility that regularly undergo maintenance, the S3500 Series can help reduce the amount of time it takes to complete group lockout from start to finish. The full permit station (S3500) provides a place to keep equipment locks, secure the key(s) and display reference documentation in the location where the work is being done, minimizing movement of equipment and personnel throughout the facility.

CENTRALIZED CONTROL ROOM

When used for centralized group lockout administration, the S3500 Series can improve and streamline communication for permit-to-work jobs. Authorized employees participating in the lockout have access to information pertaining to the safe work environment. Operations and maintenance personnel also have a full view of lockout activity taking place at any given time.

In control room applications, the S3500 Series can be configured as a lock box only (S3502) or as a full station (S3500). The lock caddy provided within the lock box eases the transport of equipment locks from the control room to the point of application. When configured as a full station, permit and work order related documentation can be placed with the box being used for the lockout.

Model Best Practice How Master Lock Helps

Setting Up Your Station

1 Assign station to an area or machine. Master Lock can produce laser-engraved tags marked to your specifications.

2Use a keyed-alike set of equipment locks in the color specified by your lockout program. Permanently mark the key with the key number.

Multiple padlock color options offered. LifeGuard™, a no-charge key-charting system, is available to build your system of locks and prevent unintentional key duplication.

3Assign equipment locks to station. Ensure appropriate quantity of locks for the location. Engrave lock information and key number on station tag. Engrave locks in set with sequential numbers (e.g. Lock 3 of 10) and key number.

Master Lock can engrave locks and tags to your specifications.

Using Your

Station

4Designate station for a particular job. Use a job-specific identifier, such as a permit or work order number, to associate the box with the work being done.

Station includes rewritable tag that can be marked with job-specific information.

5Ensure permit documentation and other necessary paperwork is accessible and visible to workers joining the lockout.

Permit display case protects paperwork while maintaining its visibility and accessibility.

6 Display the key in a way that the key number is readable during lockout.

Lock caddy includes hooks to position the key in the center of the lock box window.

7Initiate the lockout by using an operations or control lock in a specific color. This also provides lockout coordinators a level of control over releasing and re-energizing the locked out equipment.

Station includes latch hole to further distinguish operations lock from personal locks.

Properly setting up your permit station can further improve the effectiveness of group lockout execution:

• During the energy-isolation process, workers can use documentation, key number and the balance of locks in the box to verify the lockout was performed correctly.

• During equipment audits, missing locks are easy to identify. Engraving the key number on the locks will simplify the process of ordering replacements.
