An Epistle from Paul: Kids Need Us to Parent Them! Years ago Zig Ziglar penned a great book – Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World. It is full of some great thoughts, statistics and illustrations. Let me use three of them and then make my point. “The child who has not been disciplined with love by his little world will be disciplined, generally without love, by the big world.” “The reality is that whether you do or don’t discipline your child, you educate him to a particular set of values. Realistically, if you don’t administer loving but fair discipline to the child, you can be certain society sooner or later will, but not always in a loving, fair, manner. Perhaps that’s the reason a 1980 Gallup Poll revealed that over 90 percent of the graduating high school seniors wished their parents and teachers loved them enough to discipline them or and require more of them.” “I love this thought: ‘No man ever became great doing as he pleased.’ Little men do as they please; great men submit themselves to the laws governing the realm of their greatness.” Let me use the three above quotes to help illustrate and establish another vital Biblical principle. Kids need us to be parents not their buddies. Parents are the adults, and as designed by God, they are the ones “running the show” at home, not the kids. How we parents must discipline our kids and teach them to be disciplined. Proverbs 22:15 says, “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will remove it far from him.” Let me say again, kids need us to parent them. Let’s be parents to our kids! All Church Family Banquet!

Mark this down on your calendars – Saturday, May 21st. We will be gathering at the church building at 5 PM for the “All Church Family Banquet.” What is this? It is a special time of delicious food… and the best of fellowship together in the Lord. In the past we have had “Mother and Daughter Banquets” and “Father and Son Banquests.” The leadership thought it a good thing to combine the two and make this an all church event giving no one reason to begin to think they are excluded in anyway… So, put this down on your date book and plan to be a part of this grand gathering that evening at 5 P.M.!!!

Caleb Puckett Immersed into Christ!

This past Sunday during invitation and decision time, Caleb Puckett stepped forward confessing his faith that Jesus was the Christ the Son of the Living God and that he

wanted to accept Him as His Lord and Savior. Russ, his dad was in the baptistry with him when all present were privileged to witness Caleb’s baptism into Christ for the remission of his sins and the

gift of God’s Spirit. To witness the moment Caleb became a Christian, his baptism into Christ, made for a great day of rejoicing. Way to go Caleb and may you grow in faith and service!
