• Pratyush Kumar Sethy from 2018 passout batch became a junior research scientist at CERN, Switzerland.

• Subham Agarwal secured 325 in GRE & 116 in TOEFL examinations, 2018.

• Six of the branches have been accredited by NBA.

• Barsha Behera and Ipsit Bibhudarshi were honored with the Title of ‘Social Change Maker’ by Google in the year 2013.

• Ipsit Bibhudarshi won the best delegate award in MUN held at Singapore in year 2013.

• Some of our students have been selected as the Student Ambassador by Google.

• Payal Mishra bagged the gold medal and being all Odisha 2011-2015 batch topper in Electrical engg. She also achieved the dual feat by being adjudged the “Best Graduate in B.tech” for securing the highest CGPA all branches combined.

• Sujata Senapati batch of 2013 is selected for the award of Gold Medal by BPUT, Rourkela through Convocation-2016 held on 17.04.2016 for her outstanding performance.

Department of Architecture & PlanningArchitecture is concerned with the design and construction of buildings in their sociological, technical and environmental contexts. There is increasing recognition of architecture as one of the top intellectual disciplines, an art form, and a technical profession intimately linked with the single largest sector of investment in the economy. Architects are called upon to design and execute building projects and resolve other issues related to the manmade environment in a variety of settings. Bachelor of Architecture programme aims at attaining a high level of contextual excellence in architectural design. Both theory and studio exercises are viewed as the core of the programme with crucial inputs being provided by experts specializing in the fields of arts, humanities, engineering and technology, and professional practice of architecture. A strong foundation of multi-disciplinary enabling skills related to space, construction environments and aesthetics are offered to the students. Among others, these skills include drawing, architectural presentation, research and writing, computer applications, technical and managerial aptitudes in problem definition and solution seeking. The Department offers physics courses in the under-graduate engineering and postgraduate programme leading to M.Sc. with special papers in X - Rays, electronics x-rays and Condensed matter physics.Experienced faculty along with well-equipped laboratories have provided students a suitable ambience for grooming their minds into becoming brilliant professionals in the field of pure sciences. Research work is carried out mainly in the fields of X-rays, Scattering and small angle macromolecular structure determination, Theoretical Particle Physics, Condensed Matter Physics and Environmental Science.

The Department of Chemistry imparts teaching to undergraduate students across all streams in the 1st semester for both theory & sessional to 2nd semester B.Tech students of all streams. The M.Sc students of the department after getting their degrees are serving in various private, public sector undertaking, multinational companies and educational institutes in different positions. iCLICK The cyber club of the institution, that keeps the students updated on the emerging trends in technology, organises regular brainstorming sessions, interactive quizzes, and many such creative events. iCLICK stands for “Innovative Computer Logistics and Incisive Cyber Knowhow”.

SSG Social Service Guild is the most active society in the institution. In recent days, SSG has committed to several endorsements like Blood Donation Campaign (In the Parjang Block), Book Packet Challenge (Providing notebooks, Stationary and Old Books to deprived kids), Prachesta (The Weekly teaching campaign) and Tree Plantation Drive (On the eve of Van Mahotsav).

ROBOTICSThe Robotics Society takes care of the mechatronics, working models of robots and other electronic devices.

SOLESociety of Literary Enthusiasts is a distinctive guild of students with a vision to fortify the B.Tech skeleton with the flesh, blood and bones of knowledge, wisdom and innovativeness. Every year, SOLE organizes “Anweshan”- a series of inter-institution competitions and events, ranging from quizzes, spell-bee to dance, Mehendi, tatoo making. Students from institutions all over the state participate, and the participation increases every subsequent year.

Society of Chemical Engineers, organizes an annual inter-institution event called QUIMICCA that displays outstanding prowess of the Chemical world.

SPERWhen it comes to Sports, students have a lot of options. Cricket, Football, Table-Tennis, Badminton, Tennis and Chess are popular among students. The Annual Sport Meet brings together the faculty, staff and students in healthy competition and is one of the most awaited events on campus. IGIT has been organising UTSAHAN all Odisha inter institution sports meet (AOICSM).

METALLICA SOCIETY The society conducts an annual inter-institution event - ADMANTIUM that sees over seminars, workshops and other innovations in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

CULTURAL CLUB Dance, Music, Poetry, Theatre and other forms of art are highly encouraged and found a pride of place in IGIT. Cumulative efforts of faculty, staff and students culminate in much awaited events such as Independence Day, Annual Day etc. The cultural activities play a pivotal role in exploring the multidimensional talents of the students and shaping their personality. “RESPLENDA”, “UNMESH”, “HELIOUS- the springfest” provide students with a platform to bring out the playful and creative flair in them.

HORIzONHorizon is the confluence of knowledge and strength which pr omises to set new heights in the history of technical knowledge bringing forward the new ideas and thoughts. It sets up a platf orm for the ignited min ds to come together and fight for a creative war, something which will be staying at top for years to come..!!

AUDIO-VISUAL CLUB The movie club is one of the most proactive and popular clubs in IGIT. It screens a mixed-bag of movies ranging from mainstream to alternative cinema. The annual screenings “EUDOMONIA” provide the students a chance to rejuvenate after hectic curriculcum.
